    hi, if you have a kill switch/button that rubber key goes into on the 400 just unplug the wires 2 wires that go to it this by passes the system or at least it does on my 450. one less thing to worry about in the wiring just primes up with ignition turned on.

    id check the head gasket, its possible for a leak between a oil way and compression chamber. its not forced to make it misfire if its a new leak or a small leak. you can have this (sniff tested) at a local garage with a fluid that goes into a sucker over the header tank or radiator and changes...

    thanks (nick) much appreciated, bikes giving me alot of agro at min put 4 litre of oil in it and its not using it or burning it and its not in the cooiling system... only done 18 miles and its vanished!! think im going to sell it as spares or repair ive spent more time fixing it than riding it...
