Most of the pre-2004 ECBoy 50's are just TXT 50's with a sub frame welded on, fan removed and mx plastics added. The later EC and MC 50's (2005+) were a little different. One of the later models was even air cooled rather than liquid.
I was told they are Moto Minarelli based, but GG...
'03 EC 200 - full armor (aluminum skid, barkbusters, cf pipe guard) full tank, 900cc case oil, and a harness-load of useless EC wiring = 251lbs.
Good to see the bikes getting press. I had my EC at a bike night a few weeks back and people were saying they'd read about Gas Gas. Usually they ask...
I don't know these guys, but I know these guys... if you know what I mean.
This movie could be about my dad. He's 73 and still rides circles around us 30-40 year old guys on the trail. I hope the genes don't skip a generation. That means I have at least 30-40 more years of riding left. :)
Les at LTR is the man. Sent both my Ohlins forks and shock to him when they started drooling and they came back clean and set up perfect. I put them back on the bike and have never regretted sending them to him. I've never had a suspension work so well. I agree with jostby, I can't stand the...
The young fella who did the fabulous chalk art on the driveway back in 2003, when this yellow beauty was uncrated, is getting ready to ride my EC200. Time for me to hop on the MC250 we've been saving. The 2005 MC250 has been quite the trailer queen. She even entered a bike show in 2011...
I've got them super fancy gold forks on my bike and when they started drooling a few years back, I didn't bother to futz with them. I just slid them off, packed them in an old quilt in a lightbulb box and sent them to LTR. Best money I've spent on the bike. No parts worries either.
My experience with the 200 as a 175-180lb rider is that in the gnarly, nasty, tight technical stuff, you'll last longer on the 200. It won't suck every last bit of energy from your body. However, in the wide open faster stuff, you'll always be trying to shift up into 7th gear. It's a great...
Sent my Ohlins from my 03 200 off to Les, best thing I ever did to the bike. If they're hosed he can bring them back to life for you and you can tweak from there. If you're a novice and your suspension is beating you up, it will not help your confidence or skill development. I'd invest in the...
I'm enjoying watching Minnesota become the epicenter of the Gas Gas circle in North America. Keep it up guys! Great riding.
The Minnesota woods are the perfect place to take advantage of the strong points of the Gassers.
