NZ\AUS Where are you shopping for your parts?

These shims are 8mm center hole, which is a bit rare, I think. I see you are in Auckland - Norm Cobb - Suspensiontech- based in Ellerslie has shims for these forks. He also has some big port pistons that help get rid of the mid stroke pack/harshness. I got some of these off him, along with a...

More of your fork than you ever wanted to see.

Yeah, sorry, the 45's. (It was more a passing remark to STMs comment about designing some pistons for the 45s). The various size options are available on the left hand side of the page that link takes you to.

More of your fork than you ever wanted to see.

I fitted some of these from Norm Cobb. They are big port base valves that address the midstroke harshness on fast hits. They work really well - it seems the stock piston compression ports are just too small to allow sufficient flow. I have noticed the front sits higher with the new pistons, I...

    2013 EC300R lowering kit anyone?

I am also the same weight and height. I can't speak for an'13, but on my 07 I am running a .48 spring in the rear. This is set up for a sag of around 30/105. It works really well for me. On the 07, this .48 rear seems to balance the stock front springs nicely - I believe they were mismatched...

oil sheen on clutch side case, any thoughts?

I would suspect the base gasket. I have had a similar mess when using a .1mm (brown) gasket without sealant. I now distrust those .1 gaskets even if combined with a thicker one. Having said that, the base gasket would be the hardest one to change out....only to find it was the PV cover!

    Fork oil level in 45 zokes 2011 300 ?

I run mine at 105mm, spring out. This equates to 540ml in each leg. If you do a search you should be able to find quite a few posts on this. From memory, my level is a little higher than most. It works fine for me - I am 75kg, stock springs. The oil height affects "bottoming out" characteristics.

    2012 EC300R - Australian Dirt Bike Magazine

Well, the initial reaction is "they are a bunch of tossers". After some reflection though, I guess they are just saying what they are feeling. If the bike totally ripped I'm sure they would have said so. The real tosser in this case is the distributor or dealer who provided the bike. Why would...

Rear Spring rate for 155 lbs/70 kg?

I'm 72kg without gear. I have a .48 on the rear of my 07. This is sachs shock, zoke 45 front. I find it well balanced with the stock front (.42?) I don't do any motocross type jumping - mostly single track type stuff or open farmland riding. I find it works great for me, and would not go back to...

Resident nutritionist? 8 hour Team race feeding questions

And that, my friends, is the difference between a winner and a loser. When Mats Nilsson is "utterly exhausted wet and cold" he kicks her into life a heads off into the rain for the next 40km section of gruelling track. When I am "feeling a bit weary, think it might start raining soon, and have...

    wheel bearings

I think swazi was after the rear seal numbers. They are 32x47x7 ( #32428) and 25x42x7 (#25466).

EC250 suddenly won't rev on to pipe

Maybe check the muffler as well. A while ago the perforated tube up the center of my muffler fractured and fell out of alignment, causing the packing to partially block. The symptoms were similar to what you describe.

    Spring Rate............Confusion!!

That sounds like a good plan. Minor differences in length and diameter shouldn't matter. The eibach spring I got was about 5mm longer than the stock sachs - no problem, just a little more difficult to compress on installation. It also has a slightly larger diameter, but came with pressed steel...

    Spring Rate............Confusion!!

I weigh just a little more than you, at 70 kg. I have found that a .48 spring (thats 2 steps softer) is ideal. It gives me around 105 race sag with around 25-30 free. I'm not sure exactly what preload is required to achieve this, but it seemed normal when i did it, around 10-15mm from memory. I...
