Here is a series of videos that tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the GG starter and how to fix it. This guy did an amazing job and these videos should be in a sticky.
If this info is already here forgive me, I missed it.

E-start is a luxury, a luxury I happen to really like. Do you tough guys really need 12-13 inches of suspension travel? No you do not, perhaps you guys can prove how tough you are by riding vintage bikes with 3 inches of travel.
Do not pass go and do not collect 200 dollars until you send your seat here:

Get the dual sport seat. Most comfortable seat I ever had on a dirt bike. Here is a picture of mine. It's an inch taller and as you can see wider at the butt.
I'm interested in that. I'll also say this: I expected my bike to be sluggish, when you look at how small the 38 tooth sprocket is you can see that it will have less leverage over the wheel. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't.
That's fuel for your fire right there!
The operation was a success. I have 13/38 and took it for a ride. Wow, it's everything I hoped it would be. It starts out fine and cruises nice and smooth and a pretty good speed. My speedo is not working so I couldn't tell how fast I was going but it seems pretty fast. I don't know why people...
Dawg, did you have trouble with the rear chain guide?
Upon a cursory inspection it looks to me like the chain might rub the top where it bolts to the swingarm. I did not try the wheel yet though.
EDIT: put the wheel on, I think it will be okay but I'm still interested in your input. What I can...
I was looking at that site....good stuff. At the time I was only looking at top speed and more importantly RPM at 60-70 MPH.
So by what you're saying it will be like starting out in second with stock gearing. I can handle that.
Thanks
Just got my 38 tooth sprocket from Talon. Man does it look SMALL. Can't wait to see what she runs like. I plan on running the 13 tooth front simply because I have a bout 3 or 4 laying around.
What's it like in first gear with this kind of gearing?
I'm interested in making a true dual sport out of my '11 EC300. I have been unable to find anything smaller than a 48 tooth rear sprocket. Spawtydawg where can I get that 38 tooth that you mentioned?
Thank you for that info. Mine is also broken and I wanted to do exactly what you have outlined here. My bike is a 2011 but the switch looks identical so I'm pretty sure your info should be of some help to me.
I haven't been hanging around here lately but someone asked me about the part number for the Honda scooter Bendix so I came back to look at this thread. I see you guys have been talking about me ;-) I had an interesting experience as a result of this thread I thought I would share. I get a PM...
Are you saying that you removed the larger diameter gear from the shaft?
Are you also saying that you bored the center hole of said gear and if so how did it then fit onto the shaft again.
I Still have a pile of parts to look at but I'm confused
