Looking at '99 EC200. Anything to know?

Not sure if I am to late to offer advice but I have the 99 250. I love the bike even with the conventional fork. I rebuilt it this winter and planned on replacing the front with a Suzuki Showa unit based on the advice of other here. I ran out of budget so I just rebuilt the congenital zones...

    99 no spark

no I disconected the kill switch wire where it plugs into the cdi. The first time, I tested the wrong wire, I tested the white blue wire that goes to the coil and got 117k ohms but in testing the blue kill switch wire, I only got 44.8

    99 no spark

Yes it ran. The reason for the teardown had to due with the clutch. At my last race last year, I lost my shifter and the bike got stuck in third gear and I fried the clutch trying to get another lap out - NOT SMART. It still ran fine but was also due for rings. I did not do anything with the...

    99 no spark

Last nigh I ground the paint of the motor mounts and still did not get any fire. I also tested the cdi. I got 117 ohms from the wire going to the coil (at the junction under the airbox and the cdi ground. I only got a 44.8 ohms from the kill switch wire (taken from the same spot) and the cdi...

    Goofy Keihn question

I am on the tail end of a rebuild and was going through the carb and it has a sticker on it that said, "for racing purposes only" or something like that. I have torn quite a few Keihns down and never seen that however this is my first gasser. Did I get the super cool carberater and now need to...

Racing start - dead engine tips please

As a C class rider it doesn't much matter for me but I start the bike when the first row leaves, then stall it and do not start it again till its my turn. When in gear, I let the clutch out and rock it back and fourth a few times to "prime it". Then just hold the clutch and and wait. I have...

    Clutch basket

Well I just ordered a Barnett Basket. - was going with the S3 but liked the steel inserts on the Barnett. Both are billet so I think either would be a good option

    Suspension dumby

I am reading a 56 now - had my wife look at it with much better eyes than mine, and she sees a definite 56. Thanks for the information. As usually GG guys come through with great info. I have ordered the race tech book and am going to look for the correct springs. I have about a month to...

    Suspension dumby

I have to admit that as much as I am confident about most of the mechanicals of a motorcycle, I am completely lost when is comes to springs. I can change for seals and know how to set everything back to factory, but to tune it, I am lost. I am currently in the process of rebuilding my 99...

    converting 99 ec250 front end

Thanks everyone for the information as I do plan on doing this mod in the future. I know my bike is a 99 but it runs great, handles well and is well maintained. I am a C class harescrambler so I am not at the edge of its limits, there is no need for a new bike until my talent improves. :)
