I agree from the perspective of competitive riders, but for the perpetual sportsman that doesn't have a lot of talent and is taking part for fun, which makes up a large percentage of the average UK club entry, the EC200 makes a lot of sense. Using the same bottom end as the bigger bikes gave it...
GG UK are advertising a 2019 200:

GG ought to promote the easy to ride characteristics of the 200, it's kind of like the 2t version of the 250cc 4t enduros that doesn't punish throttle control errors like the bigger bikes.
With regard to the TPI KTMs, I had a...
Difficult to be sure from video, but immediate reaction would be maybe something up with the ignition. Ignition timing misfire rather than mechanical? Age and wear and tear on wires, connectors and joints. Don't be downhearted, eventual victory over difficult and annoying problems is one of the...
I went from an '06 GG to a '13 husaberg te, which as most know is more or less a ktm 300 exc. It was the opposite to what I expected. I really like the WP suspension, especially with the shock professionally lowered (shorter shaft) and the forks dropped in the clamps. However I found the TE300...
The frame looks rather similar to ktm of a few years ago, add GG motor and yamaha suspension, a winning combination :D Would expect the current ktms to be a little smaller / lighter than the GG.
I had a quick go on a 250 tpi a few weeks back. Felt instantly at home on it on a sticky rutted green lane. Very light, as in light as a 125 would have been ten years ago. I don't think the owner had even touched the suspension clickers and it was very confidence inspiring to ride (I normally...
Guessing you're racing CEC, TBEC or Fast Eddy. Fast Eddy used to do short training sessions at his practice days where you could ask directly about technique on the same sort of ground. I guess they're probably still doing it.
If planning to use on the blacktop, don't discount the 200 / 250 models. In the UK, our trails are few and far between and we have to use trail / enduro bikes on the road. I'm increasingly convinced that 300s struggle to cope with prolonged higher speed use. My old EC200 worked far better in...
No problem! Brown is clock. It needs to be wired to a 12v battery because it will flatten smaller batteries in a week or two. I fitted a small battery holder to my old ec just to have use of the clock for time cards and did without the rest of the time. Probably a legacy thing from the 4 stroke...
Assuming same model in your region. Yellow wrap around ht lead for rpm (doesn't work that well) . If memory serves, I think the capacitor top left powers the blue backlight.
+1 on replacing the reeds. Which metering rod do you have ? Guessing it would be 4-2m for ec300, might be worth checking with Lectron. I recently purchased a new metering rod and found their customer service excellent (especially being in a different country)
