I'll admit, I have never heard of that. what would road riding have any difference to dirt riding in terms of the engine? personally, I would stick with the factory recommended clearances.
I believe the nipple on the right is a breather and should be run up high so no water can get it. the nipple by the exhaust flange is an oil drain from the power valve and should be run downward
good on ya for trying. just approach as simple as possible. just remember pilot for idle and just off idle, needle for mid and main for wide open. ride your bike as is to determine what you're not liking and where it is in the throttle position. make small tweaks one at a time
why don't they have carabiners on both ends? if it can come loose on one, it can come loose on the other. I get Adran tie downs with 2 carabiners from my local dealer
