Great I'll give that a go. Then I'll file the splines a tad more and use anti-seize on reinstall.
I finished the job late Saturday night and after I set the lever on, I knew I should've gone to bed and rethought it in the morning.
I just finished the the repair too. Used a 2001 EC250 shaft and gears on my 2017 EC300. I did notice the ratchet paw on the 2017 was shorter than the one on the 2001 unit. Didn't think of it at the time, but maybe I should have taken a few mm's off the 2001.

Did the washer mod. Found 6mm x 1.6mm washers and it did make a difference. Not extreme, but a bit easier. Think maybe running two Ec200 springs with the EC/XC 250/300 springs would be good.
Or better yet, pull two like Thompo did. Fast easy and no cost.

I'm going back to 2 turns for my next ride. It must be at a full 2.5 turns, seems to rocket out of corners, but wants to loop out in steep rock canyon wall climbs, using more clutch and revs to make it jump over stuff last...
I've heard of guys pulling two springs on KTMs, sounds like another quick mod. Good to hear yours is working well.
While I have it apart I'll go find some washers and give it a go. Maybe try 1.2 -1.5mm stack to avoid the cover like you say.

I didn't hold the allen, so locking turned pin it just a tad. I was going for 2.5 turns out, maybe more like 2.25 turns or so over all said and done. Noticed a change not extreme.
What setting do you guys like and why?
Has anyone tried this with their GG. I'm running the 2017 EC300R and broke my kickstart shaft other day, replacing with one out of a 2001 EC250 has the nice heavy spline shaft over the grooved shaft used in the 2014-18 that break.
Figured while I have the case off, clutch out to pull the kick...

Hello, I ?m having a hard time locating a USFS Approved Spark Arrestor for the 2017 EC 300.
Looks the bikes were basically the same from 2014 or 2015 on? If that?s correct does anyone know if a FMF Q or Turbine Core from a 2015 or so will fit on the 2017?
If so, I can try to order one...
