    300xc what gearing works best??

These day I seem to need more control and chugging power, than speed. I’m not racing anymore and most of my riding is with my kids at their trail pace. I’ll switch it up to the 14/53 this week and give it a go, plus that will force me it install my new Maxxis IT.

    300xc what gearing works best??

    I was wrong, my son has a 14/52 (3.71) on his EXC250.

    300xc what gearing works best??

That's how my second and third feels on the tight stuff. We run 13/50 on the EXC250 and I seem to ride that bike faster and really whip it around quicker. Could be the weight too, my 01 XC300 GG feels heavy where the EXC feels smaller and light. Only my second day on the 300 so maybe I need...

    300xc what gearing works best??

What gearing works best on the 300 for tight stuff? I’ve got a 14/48 on it, but that is taller than I use to run on my MXC300 or my TE570. I always like 13/50, but I do have a 53 for the GasGas. That would put me at 14/53 or 3.78, where 13/50 is 3.84 . Right now second is somewhat low, but...

    Pipe and CoreII problems

Only the CoreII was new, but it was just a bit longer so I cut approx. 20mm off the pipe and it all mounted up really well. I ended up using Permatex cooper sealer on everything, but that’s habit with all our 2-strokes to reduce oil dripping on other parts. It should work very well now. On...

    Pipe and CoreII problems

I guess I got fixed in a rut, because I never though about cutting the end of the gnarly. That sounds like such a easy and quick fix. I’ll look at that this coming weekend and high-temp cooper sealer, some hose and claps and the silencer to pipe junction will work even if I cut it too short...

    Pipe and CoreII problems

Long, but any input would be a major help. Bike XC300 2001 I’m having problems getting my FMF Gnarly and new Turbinecore II to lineup. In order to get the core II to lineup with the brackets on the subframe, the head of the pipe is pushed forward off of the Exhaust Spigot. The Exhaust...

    seat cover and staples

Thanks for the input. I checked out the compressors, but that’s out of my budget. So I got the T-50 electric stapler and it works well with the 6mm staples and my15 year old helping hold the cover and seat. Holding the gun steady and putting a lot of weight on it is key, but we even got good...

    seat cover and staples

When replacing a seat cover, has anyone had success using one of the Arrow type electric staple guns. I have a basic T-50 non-electric hand unit, but I can’t seem to get a good enough drive to sink the 6mm staples. I don’t have a compressor, so the pneumatic gun is not an option. I’ve got two...

    Seat problems

Thanks Jeff, I got the bike used with the IMS tank and the 00 seat. I'll give the guys a call Monday.

    Sidestand spring flings

Just checked out the photos of the master link fix for the sidestand and I think that will work. From the photos I can tell that the spring attachment point on my stand is not stock and was re-wielded from what was remaining of the original spring mounting loop. Looks like the wield itself is...

    Seat problems

I’m hoping to reinstall the stock tank on this 2001 XC300, but the tall seat will not work. If I install the tall seat with the stock tank the rear seat mounts are raised above the sub frame and when I push the back of the seat down it rips the tank bracket right out. I’ve used larger screws...

    Sidestand spring flings

I’ve been rebuilding a 2001 XC300 and I’ve run into some snags. I just got a new side stand spring and installed it based on the microfish images and the thing is a joke, in fact the whole sidestand GasGas design in a joke. The angle on the stand is a bit odd, but the big issue is the new...

    Bearing kit cross???

Thanks for the info, on the swingarm bolt, I pulled my linkage and arm from the frame with the help of WD-40 and MR. Hammer. Water did a number on it, but it's out and it's clean now. Get a long 3/8" extention and drive it out, make sure the right side is free of rust, dirt , etc.
