I think the welded back torque limiting gear will have destroyed the starter clutch. Ordered a flywheel puller so will have a look and see. Found that thread on the DRZ conversion - could be useful, cheers! Also discovered talk of Thor Motorcycles in Bodmin which is just down the road from me...
