It's so obvious it's not a 11 model.Probaly a 06,07 by the look of frame and suspension combo or even 05.To answer your original question,no you were not ripped off.It was mispresented as a 2011 but ripped no.
Take your frame numbers to the po po and if its clean go ride it.
The man is doing well.Also check the weld between the shift shaft and 'bottle opener' with a magnifying glass for any hairline cracks.It's a known weak point.
Looks very familiar.Do a search for my thread ' ec250 implosion 'back in 2010.Was repaired with new bits and has been ok since.Hasn't had much use thou.
Once you get ya head around how everything works,it's not all that complicated really.
Check the wiring and connectors around the steering head and headlight.They may 'look' ok but not work.The loom there is way too large and complicated,using half arsed connectors to be twisting back n forth.
Sounds like the selector/selector drum has selected another gear without deselecting the original gear,ie is in two gears now hence lockup.
If it's done under full power the tranny implodes.I know I've seen it done.
Very expensive.
