The Race Disks disk arrived ... pretty quickly for UK to Canada.
For the $85 cdn it cost to get here it seems like a very nicely made brake disk. Only time will tell if is decent but so far seems like a good buy.
Maybe "not common" wasn't the right terminology but I couldn't find it on eBay, Amazon or Fortnine. The only source I could find was direct from All Balls.
I was actually talking about the upper steering stem bearing.
Luckily the YZ front axle is smaller than the GasGas axle so the GasGas...
I haven't bolted anything together yet but comparing the GasGas triples to the YZ triples, the fork spacing looks to be very close. Maybe the YZ spacing is a bit wider but we are talking maybe 1/4" at most. No way is the difference more than an inch .... at least not with the parts I have.
You are certainly in the ballpark. I am 230lbs and 6'2" and the Racetech spring rate calculator said .45 fork springs and 6.0 shock spring IIRC.
I have the OEM springs in the forks which are .46 (or I have this backwards and Racetech said .46 but the OEM springs are .45?) Anyway...
The options are ATF or hydraulic fluid.
Not sure on the viscosity of various ATF brands but hydraulic fluid is fairly simple as the ISO standards equate to specific oil weights. For example the ISO 22 oil is equivalent to 5w oil.
Hydraulic fluid is WAY less expensive than fork oil. Like...
LOL
I think the biggest thing is just deciding how it should get done. In this case there were two options but its so much easier when someone can say how it has been done. Then the way is known and it just comes down to execution.
The steering stem bearings were pretty simple but more...
I chose to go with aluminum blocks welded on to the lower triple clamp as that was a lot easier to take down to the welder rather than the entire bike.
Triples went off to the welder today. I suspect the bolts would hold the aluminum blocks in place no problem but some welds will ensure the blocks don't move.
The blocks were not difficult to made although fitting everything together took a bunch of tweaking and back and forth to the milling...

This was by a long way the least expensive option. Like half the price of stuff on eBay out of USA and Australia. :D
