2000 model year should be correct but if someone updated the plastics to a newer year to get rid of the "pink" red '00 plastics (like I did to mine) then the airbox got changed also, that's probably why you have the side air filter access panel. Check the sticky threads in the general discussion...

The access panel was added in '01. All KX250 plastic except radiator shrouds which are GG only.

As coolant heats it expands. If you fill the radiator to the top, unless you have an overflow tank the extra volume purges out of the cap. My bikes both run with the coolant right at the top of the fins when looking inside the radiator. If I top them off they will purge the excess to that point...

I'm not sure about the hub but everything for the brakes sounds like GG. There was a Dealer Edition (I think it was called) somewhere around '01-'04 that came with Ohlins front. The WP43 clamps and Ohlins forks would interchange. Sounds like somebody tried to do the swap with Honda Forks maybe?

I thought '99 and '00 plastic was the same? If they are I have a full take-off set including original seat cover from my '00 I'd like to get rid of. Search my posts. Pictures are there, price negotiable.

My '00 XC250 is stamped just like yours (XC on the tag, EC on the case). Yours has the YK3 ignition which has a larger flywheel (better trail attitude) than the 2K2 and the 2K3 lighting coil puts out more watts (65 if I remember correct). The '99 might actually have the counter balancer...

in the US many ask about "pinging" (also called pre-ignition). A slightly loose chain at lower RPM's can sound much like the same and is the cause of many of the complaints. Check your chain tension before you do anything too time consuming :)

I donated my new '00 rear fender to my kids '04. Same fender, side panels are different where they meet the air box. Fender is the same.
