Hi people, gasgas here in Australia are having a 2019 runout sale with 4% financing that would be quite affordable.I'm pretty tempted to jump on an ec300 or should I wait for the 2020 model to come out?🤔
G'day people's, I haven't been here for a while, the gasser has been parked while I've been riding a BMW gs 1200 the last few years.
Anyhow I've been invited to go to an enduro weekend at sunny corner near Bathurst nsw by my new boss so I've got the old rig running again.
I tried jump starting...
Hello people, I changed my oil and filter the other day on my fse400 and the drain plug at the bottom of the crankcase finally rounded the allen key hole. I managed to make it work by banging a torx driver in there but I need a new drain plug. The guy at the local...
I replaced the cam chain on my fse 400. They are prone to wear and aren't too impossible to change if you are mechanically minded. It would also be a good time to adjust your valve clearances while you have it apart.
G'day, I too own an 02 fse 400 that i bought new. It is a magic motorbike when the electrics are right! I would strongly reccomend you purchase a smart charger for your battery that will keep it fully charged all the time. When the battery is a little flat it runs like a dog and starts like a...
I am using the standard tensioner which seems to be funcioning ok...but tell me more, is there a better alternative? I've had automatic tensioners fail on yamahas out in the bush causing a nerve racking rattly trip home (no warranty because I was 'off road', so now i ride a gas gas) so maybe a...
The only time I've really needed full noise is climbing very steep hills. My previous bike , a tt350 yamaha would run out of puff near the top of steep hills causing much drama for me and hilarity for others.
The 400 fse has climbed near vertical walls with no issues.
The full throttle thing...
Well i tried to fire the gasser up today and no joy, the thing sounded weird and just didn't want to fire. i pulled off the cam cover and wound it round to tdc using a screwdriver in the plug hole and found that the cams were 1 tooth out. i made the mistake of relying on the crankshaft position...
Today i did my valve clearance adjustment and replaced my timing chain. I've been meaning to do the tappets scince about 2004 when i checked the valve clearances and noticed they were all loose. It's only scince i discovered on this forum that the shims are the same as any old boring jap bike...
I run an MSC Australian damper on mine and it works great. Best money I ever spent on the bike. When i first got my bike it was hisiding me every time I hit a rut or a rock, after fitting the damper no issues. They should be standard equipment.
The only issues I have had with my '02 Fse400 running wise have been with the charging circuit, and only because of loose/broken wires. They run terribly if they don't have proper (14.4v) voltage.
At the end of the day they are just another motorcycle, if your dealer can't fix it, find a...
On my recent repair quest I disconnected the ecu connector looking for corrosion and found nothing but clean terminal pins despite 6 years of severe off road riding and deep river crossings. The main concern i have had is keeping electricity in the battery (due to a broken wire). The efi is a...
I found it! It wasn't a current draw as i suspected (after doing a draw test properly thanks Blitz)
The thick red wire that goes to the charging thing up the front near the headset had nearly broken through completely, with only one strand of the wire still connected. I soldered it back...
