No it hasn't. I've visually inspected right hand seal and saw no discoloration of oil in crank when I had the top end off.
I feel really stupid about this but I now suspect the spark plug boot. I hadn't noticed how loose it had gotten but feels like the rubber is really the only thing holding...
I was thinking the same thing on lh crank seal but what would account for the oily substance in there?
I didn't put a new plug in but the 1 in it only had 1 ride on it. I'll try that and then start looking into electrical.
The list of changes/updates is in my original post + the brand new top end. Nothing has seemed to help at all.
I did pull the crankcase drain plug but nothing at all drained.
I'm just not sure where else to look
Put the Wossner "C" kit in and it fit like a glove but the problem is no better. I don't know what else to do.
There was a small amount of oily substance inside the ignition cover, could a leaking crank seal be causing these issues?
I cleaned it up a little better and it does have the vertex name etched in the top.
I guess my question now is should I be ok replacing a vertex D with a Wossner C?
Does anyone know if the wossner's have any identifiable markings on them. I know I've seen "w" on wisecos before but all I can find on this one is the "d 71.97" and and arrow towards the exhaust port.
The skirts actually look really good, not many wear marks at all and i wasn't hearing any piston slap. I've been reading that different manufacturers piston sizing varies. I was thinking of using the wossner c kit but I have no idea what brand the current D piston is.
I went ahead and pulled my jug and there was some blow by that couldn't be seen from the exhaust outlet. Cylinder still looks good with visible cross hatch marks but ring end gap measured 0.95 mm so I guess it's time for a top end.
The piston that was in there is marked "D 71.97" and the...
I don't believe it's burning trans oil. I was thinking spooge was unburnt fuel from what seems to be really rich condition.
I didn't have jug off, just the cap so no I didn't measure ring end gap. If I do pull the jug, do you know what ring end gap should be?
Noobi,
I havent thought of electrical yet, I'll go through all my connections and see what i can find. Thanks
Jakobi,
I have questioned the piston/rings but I've had the cylinder head off and jug looks great. Looking through exhaust outlet doesnt show any blow by. I creeping towards time for...
I have an 08 300 that won't idle and I'm about to pull my hair out.
I have searched and read through pages and pages of posts but still no solution.
I ride at 0-500 ft elevation with 70-100 degree temps most of the year.
My bike has the RB head and carb mods, Gnarly pipe, and Q stealth...
I have not had the spring rates verified and can't find any markings on them so I'm going strictly by what the previous owner told me.
I will measure the spring preload and float height and post.
I'm probably a middle of the pack C rider.
Where do you guys get extra shims from?
Thanks
