05 Reed Spacer

I have a 2005 EC 250 . I was told that I can put the reed spacer from a 300 to smooth the power out. Has anyone tried this? Does it make much difference?

What's a CCK needle?

What needle are you running? If you don't have the LTR needle then the CCK or LTR needle is you what you should be running. They are single taper and make the power delivery much smoother.

I bought the bike last spring new (left over) from a shop so everything on it is stock. I plan on getting the LTR jet kit and LTR power valve cover along with the spacer in hopes of smoothing the power out for a Senior C rider :) The bike I rode/raced last year was a 03 KTM 300EXC with lots of low end and it worked really good for me especially in some of the really nasty stuff.

Nothing against the LTR jet kit-
THe CCK needle is from www.sudco.com see "Pobit's" excellent
post on jetting. I think the CCK is a bit smoother.

With the spacer, PV cover, and needle you'll be dialed in.
(If it has a flywheel weight or big ignition.)

My bike came with a N1EF in it stock and it hit hard. I think you will be very pleased with the LTR needle or CCK needle.

Mine came with the full street legal kit that has an extra flywheel and stator. I'm not sure if this flywheel would be heavier than the one that's on it now, I haven't taken the cover off the bike yet. Anyone have an idea if it's heavier and would make much difference in power?

Anyone have the part number and price for the CCK needle? I'm on dialup and had a hard time loading the catalog.

I ordered my CCK through my favorite local part and accessories dealer, Zoom Cycles. I paid $4.xx for it. Or you can follow the sudco link and order direct. I'll even bet that half the dealer on this site (definitely RB Besigns) have the CCK needle.

A heavier flywheel makes the same power (if timing is the same)
as a lighter one, it just takes longer to get there.....

RB Designs has the CCK needle. Sudco has a minumum order $$ but it never hurts to have an extra float needle, main and pilot jets, a few extra needle clips (sooo easy to loose) and some other misc. carb parts so it's easy to hit the minumum at Sudco. Just call and tell them what you want.
