07 Seat Mod

Just thought some of you may be interested in my seat modification to my 07 ec 300 seat. It involves replacing the screw tha holds the seat on with a half turn clip which means no tools to replace the air filter and much quicker.
You have to remove the exsisting retaining nut and bracket from the subframe and purchase a Honda side cover retaining pin assembly. It consists off a half turn pin retaining clip and nylon whasher 3 seperate parts approx $10:00 USD. You place the clear nylon washer over the pin so it located under the head of the pin then place it through the hole in the seat then use the large black nylon washer that was used on the original bolt to retain the pin on the underside of the seat. then cut a piece of alluminium 2mm thick 20mm x 40mm drill a 8mm hole in the centre and 4 holes for pop rivets in the corners. then slide the new clip on the alluminium bracket no need to fix it to the bracket as it is a tight fit and then rivet to the underside of the subframe. The job takes about half an hour and is weel worth the effort.

From the pics looks really straight forward as mods go,, Looks great. I bought parts to do this type of thing to my older GG but never got around to it. You might want to check the husky parts for the seat release, thier mounts look closer to the subframe mounting. The same company makes both the GG and Husky subframe I believe,,If I can find my parts I'll get them to GMP to see if they fit..

Very nice work, but I think I'll stick with the bolt for now. Riding yesterday my brother lost the Dzus fastener from his Husky's seat, and we had to zip tie it back on. You won't loose the bolt like that. Same thing with '01 - '05 airbox doors. Maybe an M6 fastener with a folding handle similar to the Dzus fastener would be good.
