2001 Gasgas EC 300 running issues. Help needed.

Hi all
I recently got a 2001 GG EC 300
It's idles for about 3 seconds then the idle drops and the bike dies. This happens at all engine temps.
I have got a JD jetting kit, currently running red needle on middle clip. 178 main and 38 pilot. Air screw is at 2 turns out. Idle screw seems to make no difference until it's wound almost all the way in.
I set the float level as per other threads and found that it still leaks upright unless it's set super low. To the point where the needle closes when the floats at 35 ish degrees from the carb body.
The bike is also using A LOT of fuel even when not riding at high rpm.
I also find the bike is very spluttery when at a constant throttle at any RPM

Carb has been thoroughly cleaned and reeds are all okay.

The top end is brand new and air filter is clean. There is also no air leaks in the system.

I removed the plug and will attach a pic for anyone that's good at reading plugs

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
J

Sorry forgot to put in there. Carb has had complete rebuild including jet block o ring and the float needle.

I would make sure the float still floats! Does it have any holes in it when fully submerged in fuel? If you get a cotton bud with some metal polish on it and spin it up in a drill it can polish out any imperfections in the needles seat. I once had a hair of some sort stuck in the seat causing a brand new bike to piss fuel everywhere.

It could be leaking fuel past the needle and seat. Sometimes the brass seat gets worn or corroded which prevents sealing. You can polish it with a Q-tip and some tooth paste if you chuck the Q-tip in a drill.

Thanks for the replies.
Float needle seat has worn out. The slide is also in a bad way. Have since fitted a lectron and all issues are fixed.
Recommend the lectron highly
