2006 EC 200 Cylinder head Issue???

Doing a pretty thorough refresh of my recently acquired EC 200. Cylinder head was not looking healthy, so I ordered a replacement from Motocross Center. Ordered part ME200216000, which according to parts list is correct. New head showed up today and low and behold it is quite a bit smaller than the one that is currently installed. Current head is marked with ME25-30916000, which turns up nothing in parts list or google search. Anybody offer an assistance? Part number is similar to the 250 head, but not an exact match. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Old on right. New on left.

Thanks Ken

Looks like you have a 250 or 300 not a 200
Measure the piston. That will Tell the size
200 is 62.5 mm
250 is 66 mm
300 is 72 mm

What does, not looking healthy mean?
Evidence of debris damage?

As it happens machining the head for the right squish and shape removes quite a bit of metal so could repair most not crazy violent damage.

RBor suitable tuner could perform or assess.

Spark plug threaded hole is wallowed out a little. Checked with a couple of local machine shops that "maybe" could fix it. But they are not really into doing Moto stuff. Got a pretty decent deal on a new one but alas, she does not fit. Sent the part number on the existing head to MX Center to see if they can help me out. Relatively new to Gas Gas and still learning the ins and out.

Thanks

Ken

I would probably repair the spark plug thread with a helicoil if all else on the head is good.

Thought about that. I am guessing you can get a threadsert or guardsert that would work.

Sent pics of the difference in size to MX Center.

Anybody has a 200 head laying around to get some dimensions? Diameter and bolthole to bolthole?

Measure the protruding lip (the part that sticks into the cylinder) on both heads and compare. The 200 has a 62.5mm diameter, the 250 has a 66, and the 300 has a 72 (IIRC).

What is stamped on the side of the motor in front of the shiftier? As stated you may have a 250/300 motor in it or someone mite have put a 250/300 top end on the 200 bottom. Get the calipers out.

Just using my Calipers and not my outside mic set, lip measures 62.37. Cylinder is marked B and piston measured 62.47, and the piston is marked 848M06250, which is a 62.5mm Wiseco piston.

I have a 200 head from 2004 or 2005 and it matches the same number as the new head he just bought.

Been talking to MX Center and they claim the same, that it is for the 200. Just going to return it and try one of the 14mm spark plug guard-cert repairs.

Thanks to all for the input.
