2010 red fork owners beware!

Hi all,
Some may recall I crashed my 2010 EC 300 & put a dent in the beautiful red anodised fork outer. My local dealer put an order in & told me 3 weeks, price was reasonable too.3 weeks came & went.My dealer started harrassing the importer & got an answer along the lines that the factory was being difficult & they don't when it would arrive. The dealer was not happy & I persued another avenue.A week later the importer rang & said it would be here the following week.So I stopped the alternative option.
It arrived at the dealer today. It is black not anodised red.The dealer rang the importer who told him you can't get a red replacement, the factory doesn't stock them ?!!
The dealer has gone nuts at them until they agreed to take one off a demo model & send it.They then wanted to charge extra for removing the part!I told my dealer I want a discount for a second hand part.
I am stunned & lost for words,is this part really not available?

Relatively speaking not a lot of those went into production, so it would worry me too. I'm surprised it was not really expensive. A commom GG Marzocchi 45mm Shiver brake side lower, thats been on the bikes since '04 all around the world, lists for close to $1K here.

You could have taken the new part and had both uppers re-coated the same red or any color you want. Just color anodizing on the outer surfaces is easy and cheap.

Good luck!

I'll post my story regarding 45mm Shivers and what I learnt in the next week or so. Concerning price, one of the GG dealers in the UK said that a new pair of 45mm Shivers would be around 350 Sterling. Worth looking into if anyone in the US was looking to buy some new forks ?

good to know as I have a 2010 with red forks.

so I know what to expect should I need a replacement: you mind sharing what they charge for a new tube?

I'd like to see GG go with Showa or KYB.
Sachs for sure is hard to get parts for and I'm sure marz isn't much easier.
