Hello

Bought this from a member on here

2011 EC250

Just been fully rebuild, barrel replated, wiseco piston, carb rebuild

It started fine when I bought it
I ran it up my garden

In the morning started first kick and I ran it down the street at about 20mph nothing mental it then spluttered, internally backfired and died

It?s getting a spark
I?ve removed the carb, jets and cleaned it all
Checked the floats
Checked cables to cdi unit
Changed the plug
Changed the fuel
Tried bumping it (just bogs and doesn?t give anything)
Removed the manifold and there was a few spoonfuls of fuel(black)
Left the plug out and kicked it over a dozen times
It you kick it on full throttle it will backfire occasionally
Tried a spoonful of fuel down the cylinder with the fuel off and nothing
Checked the piston and liner as much as you can and it looks Ok
Seems to have compression

I?m at my wits end with it, absolutely gutted I?ve just got it and this has happened.

Going to drop it to a bike shop Tuesday but ideally would
Like to sort it myself

Like I mentioned on TT, check that woodruff key. That's something you can do yourself, for free, if you have the flywheel puller already.

So the plot thickens

Woodruff key was broken
But the flywheel/crank has inner and out movement of more than 5mm
Vertical movement also

It would appear the bearings have failed.
Absolutely gutted.

I work for a bearings company so does anyone happen to have the bearing part numbers for the crank cases?

Seals obviously will be damaged.

But once back together will be reliable. My left main failed at 11 years. That's not bad going for a competition bike.

Fully rebuilt means the same as fully serviced. ie SFA (that's special code).

Sorry chaps I never spotted the responses.

The previous owner rebuilt the top end, replated barrel, new piston/bearings.

To be fair he has bought the full gasket kit, seals (I get the bearings as I work for a bearings company)

The local garage I use who is a friend as well is doing the rebuild for ?250, i stripped the engine out 2 nights ago and dropped it off.

I want to cry but when this is done it will be mint as the rest of the bikes is perfect.

Newly powdercoated frame, new plastics, graphics, tyres, carb the whole lot.

Anyway after sticking a woodruff key in it I wanted to ensure it would start and first kick it fired up but i switched it off literally after a second.

Hopefully have it back next week and I will refit the engine.

When you get the engine back, you will have a great bike. Those ?B? frame gassers turn great. Those are some of the best gassers ever.:D

Thanks chaps.

I received all the gaskets, oil seals and just awaiting the bearings (they should be here anyday)

I'm away abroad next week so gutted I won't get it back till after then.
