Of course you should! My first Alligator (2006) was my last Alligator, or at least that's what I swore after riding those palmetto root infested sugar sand trails for how many miles....But the good news, it's held in a different location now
Ha ha. I also said I would not go back there. 3' deep whoops and palmetto roots/ stumps did me in. Roots around here don't move when you hit them!!
I did meet that famouse guy with one arm. At the rider's meeting, he said he cut all the face slappers on one side of the trail.

I think the best I ever did at the Alligator was a 6th overall back in 2003 or 2004... it got the best of me for the next few years. Always enjoyed this event tho. Might have to give the new location a try as its looking like I'm going to be at all the nationals anyhow...
We ride a lot of sand here in south Texas.
I thought Florida would be a cake walk. Eh eh!!
