2022 Rieju 200 questions?

Super Dirt Dud

New member
Hello about a decade ago I was a regular on this forum. I was running gas gas, Enduro and Trials bikes. My last new gas gas was a 300 EC and I still have it with not very many hours on it. I ran into some health issues then stuck with trails bikes because they were easier to lift when I fell. Plus, I didn’t fall at the speed that I did when I ride Enduro. So I have decided to sell my 300. It’s super clean and has a street title and purchase a 2022 Rieju 200.
My question is I’ve owned old style gas gas Enduro bikes three of them that were 200 cc so will this new Rieju 200 be better or comparable to my old GasGas bikes ? From what I see it has better suspension and I guess a different frame ? Any feedback is appreciated since I’m looking to get the bike sooner than later !
Just as a note I’m a 66 year old b rider I’m 155 in riding gear and will put the normal armor on the bike . I will also add Flexx bars for the vibration, Scott’s steering dampner , a pipe if needed for power , but I’m not sure what the KYB Suspension would need to make me happy .

Thanks for any input Tom

First, I have to say that I have no Rieju 200 (and have never ridden one), although I considered buying one a year ago.

The amount of changes would depend on how old your "old style" bikes were. There was a big change in chassis geometry (new frame ) from 2011 to 2012, and again another new frame in 2018. The 2022 Rieju is similar to the 2018-2019 Gasgas chassis-wise.
The KYB suspension is generally considered very good. My suggestion would be to ride your new MR200 for a while and then decide if it needs something suspension-wise. I think 155 lbs will fit nicely with the OEM springs.

So these Rieju bikes have no following I can find on the internet is this a bike brand that will be a dinosaur in a few years?
I’m intrigued by the bike the many gas gases I had were awesome bikes pretty solid. It had good support with a local dealer.
I searched all the dealers in the USA and it didn’t seem as though they were many that were active with the brand.
I know they don’t sell them from the importer direct to the public so if they aren’t doing that and they are not filling showrooms, what kind of future do they have in the USA? Tomorrow I’m planning on purchasing this bike once I purchased it have I bought into something that I should not have it would not be the first time in my life. So if anybody has anything to say about Rieju let me know . Thanks Tom

Thanks good to here since I bought the 2022 200mr . I want a carb I had good luck with my other 2004 , 2011and 2014 gg 200s . My other 200s were kdxs and they were nice to but I started with a brand new 1978 Suzuki PE 175 so 200s are what I like . In 2019 I bought a Beta 125 and sold it rite away just not me . I bought a Vertigo 225 in 2022 so I guess since they mentioned that the 200 Rieju is going away I am going to enjoy it .
But I really don’t know much about the company and gg was a mess in the end. I’ll report back when I get it and put sometime on it . Really hoping my old body will hold up 😎

Congrats on your new bike. I think (hope) you will like it. Since you have had a 2014 EC200, I am looking forward to hear how you find the new one. I am very pleased with my 2015 EC200, it has just passed 460 hours on the clock and is still going strong.
Regarding old bodies, I'm 64 myself and still have a lot of fun on my 200. I suffered a knee injury 3 years ago but now I'm back in quite decent shape.

I've had medical and didn't expect it. But my 200GG was fantastic. Can't see why new one is not better still. Enjoy life and riding while you can. Every day is a gift, trust me on this.

Don't despair on bike choice. Enjoy what you have.

But do check the jetting threads.
KYBs are the best but can be better valved if you do a lot of single track.

David.
