300 to 200

Sometimes my 300 just feels big. I've been thinking about trying something smaller like a 200 or even a 125. It dawned on me that instead of going out and buying an entire bike I could just buy a 200 piston and jug and do a swap out and have a 200 to ride for a bit!!

Is it that simple?? Wouldn't you have to swap out the cdi too??

btw whats a new piston and jug cost these days??

You could make a 220cc by using a 200 top end but a base spacer and or head mod would be required to accomadate the extra stroke of the 250-300 crank pin and rod. Being quite under square in its bore stroke ratio, theoreticly it would have massive torque , a lower redline, be able to run much higher compression on the same fuel grade and keep running at super low rpm's. If it did work it may turn out to be like a trials motor in power characteristics.

Wait a 220 would be cool. A modern day KDX220. But with a long stoke and small bore and powervalve you would have some sweet bottom end for sure. Not much of a reving bike thoe. Sounds like a cool bike.

I went for a little rip on my 200 on the weekend. It's fun, but I wouldn't want one as an only bike anymore. I forgot how little bottom end it has with the stock PV cover.

so much for that idea ... sounds like more than just a simple swap out. The 220 thing sounds interesting. guees I'llhang with the 300 bit longer and keep my eye out for a cheap 200 or even 125 to toy with.

The GG125 is a very under rated motorcycle. With a little jetting work the low end comes alive (for a 125) and you can throw it around like a toy. VERY durable as well.

I was at a short course harescramble sunday and noticed a fair amount of A riders (and B's) on 125's. Most seemed to be converted mx'ers. I saw the leader come through a small sand track section on a howling 450 and the #2 guy was on his tail with a yz 125. that got me thinking!!!

Fred Hoess had a few 144cc bikes built off the 125 engine. But, he said they had problems with the exhaust port bridge cracking from the over bore.

A 200 built off the 125 would be a nice ride.

Interested in a complete '07 EC250 motor? I may have to part my bike out and wouldn't split the motor as it's a low hour unit and runs great.

Are you interested in trading for a 99ec200 motor that has only 3 rides (one weekend, 5 gallons of gas) since a new top end.

No, my bike has a problem with the frame. I'll probably part the bike out but I'd like to sell the motor 1st.
