7 min of new bike bliss

Took the 07 out for a spin today. Liad it down at low speed over a tiny little jump and sprained my shoulder! Nothing broken just very sore. In an attempt to preserve my ego I am blamming the autoclutch, which I will be removing and selling as soon as the oem stuff gets here and my arm doesn't hurt to move.

In that seven minutes I really liked the bike. Noticably lighter than the 02 with much quicker steering. It also seemed tiny. I will have to wait at least a couple weeks(or more) ride again.

Anyone want a used reckluse?

Not sure how you are going to take it but thats funny. I did small crash as well the first day i rode my 02 with all the new parts. I dumped going up a clay hill that had a coating of mud on it and the bike fell on my leg.

Rub some Absobine JR. on it and go for another ride tomorrow and tells us more about your bike.

Sorry if you find this offencive.

Bummer Paul.

Why do you suspect the auto-clutch? Maybe it just needs and adjustment.

Oh no, man. You gotta try it some more. Remember, ride it in the right gear and it will ride itself. I also am always pulling in the override in the corners. Not sure it is doing anything, just habit. If you do pull it out. Make sure to measure and count your steels. In order to put in an auto. I have to swap thicker for thinner or vise versa, so you will need to make sure you have the right ones in for stock. I also forgot, check you tire pressure. I don't normally run tubes, so there could be too much pressure in your tires.

Eff- I am blaming the autoclutch because it is new to me, the alternative would be to blame myself, which isn't an option.

2 Stroke- It is kind of funny in a perverted way, I will resist the urge to flame on you.

Brian- The bike is sweet. I may or may not keep the clutch, your right I probabaly should give it another try. I didn't get a chance to really ride the bike, It's funny I ride 1-2 a week all year long with not even a scratch and then dump the new bike minutes after getting on it. The suspension felt very nice, any worries I had about the fork vanished as soon as I rode it. I didn't get a chance to really play with the power and I am at this point doubtfull about the clutch. Any idea when the OEM stuff will get here?

Sorry there i just see myself doing the same thing. Really is not fun to be injured at all. Especialy if its good ridding season. Up here my season is almost over so if i got hurt it would not faze me as much. Sorry for the comment.

Paul,

Glad your not hurt bad. Injuries happen at the stupidest times, when its easy and your not 100% focused. Mine has turned into a nightmare.

Glen, We have never met face to face but soon after I went down and my shoulder was throbbing I thought to myself, I hope it is not as bad as GMP's injury. The last time I hurt myself on a dirtbike was 8 years ago in someones driveway showing off my feeble wheelie skills. That crash broke my wrist and I ended up with a plate and three screws. Here is to riding the couch for a couple weeks or months as the case may be.

Well, I am off work for 2-6 weeks based on how well pt goes. Strained shoulder and mildy seperated ac joint. Doc suggested Jan, as a good time to get back on the bike or snowboard. It will give me lots of time to bling out the bike. Anyone know how to make nice cuts in alumuinum sheets? Where do I get one of those fancy red h2o pump spacers and impeller? I aslo think a red anodized front axle pull may be in order.

Paul

Paul,

So you separated your AC joint? Bummer, be carefull with that. Sometimes the soft tissue injuries take longer than bones to heal.

My clavicle re-fractured 2 weeks after the plate was removed early (way too early) for fear of an infection spreading, which turned out to be nothing serious. This was about 8 weeks ago. Doc says its not bad, will heal, and has no plans to replate but I can still feel the bone move in certain directions. XRays Tues to see how things are, but I'm leaning toward going to Houston to see Dr. Sanders for a replate with a bone graft. I want to wake up from this bad dream, been 6 months.:(

I've made a lot of one off small parts from aluminum sheet. What I do is layout, rough cut with a shear at work or hacksaw in the garage, and finnish shaping with a small belt sander, Dremel, and files. I just got the LTR impeller and added a set of red anodized inline coolers from GoFasters. I can't even lift the bike off the stand yet, but I have a top end to do, tweak the fork valving, add some Delrin tubing to the frame rails under the Hyde, and either an OEM '08 or tall soft/medium seat swap. Not many hours put on the bike this year. What do you think of the '08 seat compared to your tall conversions? I'm even considering going back to an over bar damper as the current combo is just too tall in the tight stuff.

I plan on giving the shoulder as much time as it needs but not a day more. I plan on filling my shop time over the next couple monthes with:

Custom Radiator Guards
Adjusting pv tension
Seat Cover
Kickstarter spring
Lubing the swingarm
T vents in the carb lines
Numerous adult beverages while "testing" stationary ergonomics on the new steed

So far I have ridden it for about ten minutes and sat on it for sevral hours. I can touch flat footed on both sides with my knees slightly bent and it feels great. My old bike had a tall seat and low boy pegs and felt huge. The 07 feels tiny. I am guessing I will end up somewhere in the middle.

 Numerous adult beverages while "testing" stationary ergonomics on the new steed

PEB,
I think we are all guilty of that more than once... I get in trouble from the wife when doing this because a 34 year old man is not supposed to make drunken dirt bike sounds

Get Well
