A funny little thing...

I was moving my 2005 EC 250 from one locatio9n in my garage to another. I pushed on the hanclebars and noticed the 'Funny little thing'. For about a quarter inch (or 1 Cm) the front shocks compress with only the tiniest amnount of pressure.

The shocks seem to be operating just fine and I wouldnt change a thing. All of the bolts, and other fasteners are tight. There is no visable damage or defect to the tripple clamp. The GG handles great, and I have no complaints at all.

Does anybody have a clue what this is ??

Normal I'd say!

You would need a lot of preload for the first movement to require a big effort. When you next change fork oil check how much preload there is. If you do not have too much you will find you can push a spring down a cm with your fingers - hence it doesn't take much weight when leaning on the bars to get a small movement. However as the spring compresses the effort for the next cm feels much greater because pushing down with say 20Kg is easy but getting 40Kg takes some serious leaning, 80Kg and you're starting to lift yourself off the ground etc.

I would say that is great - the forks apparantly have next to zero "stiction".
(RaceTech gets $25 US a quart for fork oil that claims to reduce stiction)
