Always 0 MPH on the enduro computer (2018 EC300)

Hey before I dig into this just thought I'd see if anyone else had this happen. My enduro computer is not registering any speed when I'm moving, just says 0mph, this obviously affects trip and overall milage. Hour meter still working. Everything looks good as far as the wire to the sensor and such. Just thought I'd ask before tearing into it.

There should be a little magnet on your front brake rotor. That magnet passing the sensor is how your speed and distance are calculated. Is it missing?

I hVe an XC so no speed sensor, but I think the magnet should be in this hole

If there is no magnet, any magnet moved quickly across the sensor in the brake caliper should register a speed.

The sensor is a mechanical reed switch and these do fail as the internals are a bit flimsy. You can test by unplugging the sensor cable at the speedo end and using a peice of wire to short across the connector. Making and breaking the connection will mimic the reed switch and you should see a reading on the speedo.

I have a 19 EC300 and it did the same thing. The problem was the plug was coming loose. Trace your sensor wire from the front wheel and follow it to where it plugs in close to the speedo and that will most likely be the problem.

Thanks for the tips, the magnet is present in the rotor, I had already checked for that. I will do a couple tests, double check the connection at the computer and if needed replace the sensor at the wheel. I'll follow up with what I find. Thanks.

Hello,

On my 2015 250 I had the same problem. Tried new battery, checked cables etc.

Pressed the reset button on back of speedo and it works !

Found out my 'new to me' bike wasn't recording any speed/milage on my maiden voyage on the weekend.

Had a look at it this afternoon and noticed that there's no magnet in the front disc rotor and no round hole to put a magnet.

Can only assume that the previous owner installed an aftermarket rotor, perhaps for the MX version instead of Enduro version?

If I araldyted a magnet into the gaps on my rotor, this should work shouldn't it?

Yep, I used sikaflex 227 on my 2010 and 2015 gassers to hold the magnet on.
The sika won?t budge under vibrations.
