Another Powervalve problem

Hi Guys,

I have a 2010 ec300. I have been struggling with eliminating the power valve rattle. I have had the right side case cover off and adjusted bellcrank to have some slight tension on the actuator arm as all the posts suggest. The noise is significantly better but still there. Upon further investigation I have noticed that with the flapper valve and right side barrel closed, I am able to rotate the left side barrel a few degrees, and does make some slight noise. I haven't pulled everything out yet to inspect. Possibly a worn shaft or oval holes? Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Cheers, Jason.

There is a youtube video on this where the rattle actually comes from contact on the bottom end of the actuator arm. Could this apply to your rattle?

My question is why worry about it? The system works and that is what counts. I guess it just doesn't bother me coming from old Kawasaki KIPS equipped bikes that were known for rattling.

My does rattle too, I have made a small bend on the PV arm as in the Youtube video as said up here. Still making sound. Does the PV rest against stop when idle?

Thanks Guys,

I believe the rattle is on the left drum, When I put a stethescope there it seems the loudest. I have seen the youtube vid about the actuator arm, I may try a modification there just to rule it out.

I have yet to watch to make sure the arm is against the stop at an idle, I may not have quite enough tension on and it could still be rattling once the exhaust pulses are going past the flapper valve. Thanks for that suggestion.

I'll try those few things and let you guys know.

Thanks for the suggestions

I think there is a washer on the left side as well, maybe see if a thicker one will reduce the rattle
