Any news on the 2011 450's

I dont know where you are from, but North America is not getting the 450s for 2011.

Rumour has it that the 450 will be redesigned for 2012 and use a Yamaha motor like the 250 does already.

Thats just not right,, I keep hearing that there were so many leftovers,, but when I had cash in hand,, none... and my KTM dealer sells out of every DOT 4stroker he gets.. I'm planning to get a new 250ec but would really like to of had a GG 450 or 515 instead of a pumpkin in the garage.. but I needed a DOT legal-ish 4stroke.. Anybody have a newer 450/515 that wants to trade?? let me know..

There 2 2010 450s new in box availble in the FS section but I think you will find thats about it for over here. The Uk GG site has no price on 2011 450s so where are they all. My guess would be there are none being made. The Yamaha engined version (in Dakar form and under the Rieju marque) recently took part in the 2011 Dakar. Perhaps that is an indicator that the real 450 is gone?

It's a shame the 450 didn't get off on a better footing. They were a super fun bike to ride. I still miss my 03. I have a 09 yamaha yz 450 and it does not come close to that 03 GasGas 450. I can't wait to get rid of it. On a brighter note when we went riding there a couple weeks ago it was the first time I rode the 2 stroke in a couple months and it was very refreshing to ride a bike that worked so well and felt so light. I guess I'm converted now. :)

Anyone got any news on the new 2011 450's??

ggg,
We decided not to bring in the 450. All of the brands from Beta to Yamaha have non current 450s. Back when we were doing the order for the factory, there was a Yamaha dealer in New England who was advertising 2009 WR450 Yamahas for $4999. There is no way we could compete with that price. We did not want to add more motorcycles into that pile and carry them over to next year.
Crusier....if your local KTM dealer is having a hard time getting EXC KTMs, tell him to call me and I can give him the name of at least ten dealers here in the south with those bikes in stock who would love to get rid of them. The street legal four stroke KTMs sold well for the first two years and then it came to a screeching halt.
Even if we had brought the 450s in, ours would not be street legal.
The old distributor for GG offroad bikes, still has three 2010s in his inventory. If anyone out there wants to buy one, have your dealer contact Dale. I would love to help him move these units.

The best offroad 450 is the blue and yellow one. I'm not ordering any more 450's of any color until I sell what I have...and at the rate they going that will be awhile.

EC450 in OZ

In Australia the EC450 is one of Gas Gas best selling bikes.
I had a look at the 2011 model yesterday and it looks great.
Same plastics as the 2011 2T and red frame, Renthal twin wall bars, wave disc, Pro- grips and other trick bits.
In Australia the 450 has won a lot of magazine shoot out and it always gets a good showing. And yes thank goodness we still get the Gas Gas motor.

I don't know what the USA has been getting but I have had three 450 and love them.
I have been around fuel injection for years and setting them up is not hard and have never had a problem with any of them.

In Australia we can register the 450 for road use and I think thats a big plus for the Australian model.
I think its a great bike and the OZ importer has given me great back up with information when I needed it.
You are going to be missing out on a great 4T Gas Gas.

Hmmm, I'd like to see a pic of that 450 with the red frame and 2 stroke plastics. Bet it looks real sharp. The only ones I can find are 2010 pics with the black frame and plastics. Some outrageous 2011 450 SM and Halley pics though but both with black frame.

If I had the money I would really consider a new 450/515GG and tweak it into a nice dual sport bike. The batteryless FI rocks, kicker backup (both lacking on a Berg) and GG handling. I think the motors are pretty sound now. Just need the bigger tank, some blinkers, guards and ride.

Cruiser you need to do it man.

Clay,, I dont have the cash now as I put it down on a 04 450 pumpkin,, then modded the crap out of it.. I have about $5500 into it now.. plus my sumo stuff.. The 2010's were nowhere to be found when I was looking,, or I might have snapped one up.. We will see what spring brings as I hope to buy something new to get back into racing,, a new 250 2 stroker and if the wife gets a good job(out looking now) I may be able to sell the pumpkin and get a 4 stroke gg too.. ANd for the KTM dealer.. You know Bud seams to sell everything he gets in.. even sells the crap out of them 990's.. For such a small shop he has the biggest iron turn over I have ever seen..

Why would you buy a 450 unless its approved for road use, yes the 450/515 are great for dual sport, they handle great and very reliable with long service intervals, its a shame you US guys cant get appovals, strange that the Australian models are approved we wouldnt be 5% of your sales.

I was in Queanbeyan (Dahlitz m/c) and they had one.
I think they have only just landed in Australia.

when I asked about world 4T sales I was told Australia is about the 3rd biggest seller of the Gas Gas 450 and I think thats because the distributor did all the early work to get them road registrable. If you think that the 450 has been sold in Australia since 2003 thats a lot of bikes out their.

I would say that the US is harder to get things passed for road use in some states, and thats may be why they dont bring so many in.

I think the biggest problem is because all the magazines are so in love with Pumpkin bikes it is hard for small brands to get any coverage, and thats why some people have the wrong impression about Gas Gas.
But that's their bad luck.

If GG was DOT with the 4 strokers it would go a long way,, its what got husky 4 stroker sales going.. I know many who have them and if it wasnt for that they would be on the other dot 4stroker.. As far as yamaha 450's,, its long in the tooth and not DOT,, in fact the JAP bikes are very hard to get converted in some states.. Unless they have one model that is dot you cant convert.. "black flagged" so to speak.. All the guys out in the woods,, I havent seen anybody on a yamaha 4 stroker in a very long time.. Some hondas,, but they have issues.. Hopefully someday when I have cash I can get my GG 515.. and I would really like to see it with the extra tall 5th &6th gear in the desert trim that made the rounds a while back.. If these could be special ordered it would be nice.. not that I have the cash.. at least not right now..

GG 450 in standard trim will do 100mph just. put a 14 tooth up front and it will crusie at 120kph or 70mph at 7200 rpm.

Your killing me here,, I'm now stuck with the exc for a while.. and its a good bike.. I kinda liked my 625 sxc a bit better. the power was better and it felt like it belonged on the road.. Only topped out at 98 too as I geared it down for the woods.. My 450 I never really ran it on the road as I'm still having issues with lights etc.. By the time I'm done it will be one very nice bike for sale.. Might even powder coat the frame.. keep it as my DS bike,, until I find the right replacement.. I hope to buy a 250 this spring as I want back on a 2 stroker bad..

Does anyone have a link to the pictures of the 2011 450s ? I am sure I have seen pictures of 3 models with the red frame. They dont seem to be on the corporate website anymore. The "current" model on there looks like the 2010 and none of the other eu websites I have checked even list 450s. Maybe I deramed it?
