Yeah, it feels like it should be illegal. In fact, if Obama gets elected he will probably ban the Hypermotard in an attempt to protect us from ourselves. Its so natural feeling that you find yourself well over the speed limit on a backroad without doing it intentionally, but, the bike can handle it. Matt, I'm sure on the super tight roads a true motard like yours would be even better, but this thing really has soul like nothing else I've ever ridden. I thought about being Mr. practical and getting something else but knew everytime I saw a Hyper I would want one. Hey, we ride dirt bikes, who says motorcycles are about being practical, they are about passion.
I'm runnning it in at various RPM, no really high revs but no lugging either. Lots of run up and down the tach with a lot of compression braking, best way to break it in. I already removed the evap system and the off idle seems a little smoother as there was a small free bleed through the cannister. Next there is a servo motor that controls an exhaust valve with two cables, used to partially block the exhaust at certain RPMs, to pass Euro 3 sound tests! Needless to say thats history, I just have to design a limiter plate so the servo does not go overtravel and generate an ECU code when the cables are disconnected from the valve. Cat eliminator after that. Since its air cooled anything I can do to get rid of excessive heat from the Euro 3 tune is a good thing. Its nice to ride though and you don't feel heat on your legs at a stop light like an air cooled Harley.
I'll take some pics over the next few days.
