Best cleaning aid with minimal effort?

What's the best (UK available) cleaning product out there? I always take my bike to the nearest superstores' pressure washer, but often there is still very fine dirt left behind on panels etc. Is there a good spray or anything that can get rid of this (there are many hard to reach places that cant just be cleaned with a brush) without too much hassle? Spray, soak, jet-wash?

After its cleaned, use Mop & Glow type floor polish ,applied directly on a rag and wipe the plastic.
Looks great and cleans easier next time.

I sure like pretreating (give it 5-10 min.) my bike with S100 cycle cleaner then washing it down. The S100 really loosens up grease, oil and dirt. It helps keeps it anal clean.:) Hondabrite is the same stuff if there's a Honda dealer nearby.

I use Shout Stain Remover for washing my bike, boots, and gear. You can get it at Sainsbury over there.

I like Shout due to the nutreal pH, will not stain or streak aluminum. The price is on point as well.

I use a spary bottle and pretty much spray down the entire bike, let soak and use a tooth brush as well as other brushes to clean hard to reach spots.

i use simple green for a pre soak and maxima sc1 for polish... that honda brite stuff is good also...

i love hearing what guys use to clean bikes with... everyone is different..

W5 lifts almost everything but must be rinsed well.. u can get it in lidl the orange colored sray I find best.. I left a bottle on the leather seat in my car one day came back to find a drop had leaked on the seat and melted the leather lol

I use purple power and then finish off with what use to be called Honda Polish. It's called something else now

Another vote for s100 - it is a german brand so it should be available in the U.K. It works better than anything else I have used - simple green, etc.

Honda also sells the same product as Honda-Brite.

You apply it while motor is cold and it cuts through that haze from clay/dirt stains, etc. from both the motor and plastic. It is expensive and I buy in five liter jugs and mix it 50-50 with water in a one gallon insecticide sprayer and am able to use the pump sprayer for application. I spray it on - spread it around with a soft bristled car wash brush and I hose it off with a pressure washer...

I use Mr Clean.
Hose all the loose dirt off.
Spray Mr Clean on the bike. Let it soak while I put my gear up.
Then simply hose off.

I use this degreaser
Got all the oil/grease off my white plastics and leaves a nice coating/shine

I haven't tried it personally, but remember reading a thread (think it was on here) about using Totally Awesome Cleaner from the dollar store. It might sound goofy, but the guys truly swore by it - said it was cheap and incredibly good at cleaning.

Not sure if it's available in the UK, but it might be worth checking :D

Great topic, I'm down to my last bottle of cleaner my supplier can get me.
I'll try some of these.
Thanks, this site is full of useful info!

Ive found the best cleaning aid is my wife!unfortunately the bike is one item she refuses to clean!shes very handy for the sweaty, muddy riding gear though!Happy new year, and hope you guys snowed in get an early thaw so you can get your bikes filthy again soon!

I use a special industrial presoak dirt release wash. It's the best and cheapest cleaner I've ever used & I can use it on a ton of other things than just the bike.
Dilute it in a weedsprayer and spray it on, the dirt comes right off with just a garden hose & sometimes a quick swipe with a soft bristled brush.
Works out to a few pennies per wash & very effective. Great for lazy guys like myself & no power washer needed. Doesn't hurt the lawn either.

Here's a cheesy YouTube vid: http://youtu.be/Llel8T4PeKU

After a couple years of testing, I now wholesale it to friends, acquaintances etc.,
If anyone is in Southwestern ON and wants to try some, let me know.....

Huummm! Was that bike dirty??? Lol
It sure did look clean afterwards tho..

I have been in the cleaning business most of my life . My system you cannot get anywere else it is step 1 a light high pressure acid followed by step 2a light high pressure alkaline cleaner also at high pressure . The chemical reaction between the different ph creates a lifting effect and is a brushless system . I build and give these systems away for no charge , all you have to do is buy the soap from me . A good customer will use 250 gallons a week . I will have to say that a good alkaline with byutil of about 6% and a good carrier will work fine . As far as keeping your metal nice wheel brightener sold in auto store should work fine . I also start my bike after washing it in case water went down the pipe . I try to spay oil on the spokes nipples and on the pivot points after I wash the bike. Keep her clean in the New Year n She will always get looks for sure . One thing about Gasgas bike they sure are nice looking !

kiwis, both of us,and yes I got punched for my above comments.i tried to argue it was a compliment but that didn't wash

It was just a bit dirty that day when I did the vid. Usually it comes home the same colour as the muck & slop I was riding in.........

The nice thing about this soap is that there's no special equipment needed, or hard work & it's really cheap compared to other common detergents. I often get asked by people how I get my bike so clean.
It's also nice as it keeps power washers away from your bike, which are bad news anyways.
