Best over the boot riding pants

After many times at creek crossings having my boots filled from the top with water I need to convert to over the boot pants. They need to fit over knee braces like the Pod MX and hopefully come in tall sizes, 38-40 inch inseam.

I like OTB pants for drier feet and useful pockets. The two brands I've tried, Shift and Fox, would have no where near enough inseam for you. Klim has tall versions of their pants, but not what you are looking for. Maybe some form of gaiter or the old reliable, duct tape.

Klim do have enough room, and they will prob be the last brand you buy. I have had a pair of OTB pants from Klimt for 5 years (that is 4yrs and 9 months longer than my fox otb pants lasted) and still wear them. I have the full mesh ones but if you are concerned about water getting in go for the Dakar they have a nice thigh length zippered (YKK) vent on both legs
Also the Velcro closing on the ankle means you can close them up nice and tight to avoid hooking them on your pegs

The MSR's suck the first pair I had ripped up the inside leg seam on one ride luckily I was with the rep at the time so I got a second pair free those lasted about 5 rides and I got the third pair replaced now I'm too paranoid to ride in them. Oh well

Thor do a few OTB pants, static, range or ride
A friend of mine has the Static and they fit over his asterisk knee braces fine, and they havent ripped after a year or so.

I have been using Klim for couple years now, they will fit over knee braces. I think my oldest pair are 3 years old...still holding up...some weird fraying on the canvas but no gaping holes.

I like the Dakars, but they aren't water resisant...NikWaxing them would cure that though. Some of the higher price models are, like the Traverse, but the prices get ridiculous.

Troy Lee also makes an OTB, and come in any color you want as long as the color is black...

Over the boot pants

I wouldn't buy over the boot pants for true off road riding. Adventure or dual sport would be OK.

When I first started riding over the boot pants were the "cool" pants. They were my first pair. After my kickstarter going up my pants leg and me falling over multiple times, I vowed to never own another pair for off road riding.

My .02

This is why I like the Klim's they have enough Velcro to allow you to get them nice and snug around the ankles so they don't hook on anything and overboot also stop you from getting mud and sand in your boots

i pretty much only use OTB pants. i have had a few pairs of fox 'cause i found a heap in a specials bin and brought a few pairs, interestingly some last and some dont (same model pants) -maybe they use a few different factories or somthing, But im not sure i'd recommend them unless cheap.
Can anyone tell me if the kilm dakar pants have a zip or velcro or somthing going up the lower leg to make it easy to do up boots etc, like the fox pants do? its very handy...

I found I am going back to in the boot pants for trail riding, you can grip the bike better.

Never had a kick starter go up my pant leg though, you can get the Klims pretty tight with the velcro closure.

I do like the Klims with the zippered vent, we can have 30-40 degree temperature swings here in the Arizona desert.

I really like the Moose Monarch Pass pant, I rode a lot last season wearing them and never seemed to have any problems, until I hit them with a chainsaw building trail

dakars do have velcro up the calf and a long zippered vent
