Bigger tank available for '12/13's?

I hope they come out with something cause the stock tanks on the 12's are crap. The neck is flimsy and can be squeezed with your fingers out of round.....not to mention it gets pitted and leaks horribly.

I cant see on a 12/13 where they could expand the tank?

Shrouds, like they do on the Hondas.

LOL I have a 6.5 Gallon tank on my XR650R, never worry about gas.

Clarke claimed on the phone with my dealer with me standing there they were working on a bigger tank *shrug* I emailed Clarke they said NO. I emailed Safari and they said not enough customers in Australia to make a shrouded tank.

I might recontact some of these people. I really would love a large tank, I don't race so having a 150 mile range would just be nice for tooling around the Forest. Right now I have the MSR Dromesdary bag 6L and it fits fine in my small Wolfman bags with 1.25 Gallons of fuel. Maybe I'll do a video to show sometime if the testing out in Moab goes well. That will give me around 98 miles, two bags 130 miles. Still though I rather have a shrouded tank.

I'd pay $500-$600 to have a huge tank. Justgastanks said the Clarke 3.2 I think it is might fit...but I'm not paying $$$$ for a little improvement.

bigger tank

Factory GasGas has a 12 liter tank. Its over 800 bucks, I'm sure that is not enough capacity.

This is what I got from Ben
"I talked with Clarke and they are going to make one for the 2012-13 models since they are not close enough to fit." Referring to the older Clarke tank. Then he sent me this "They are just waiting for a bike to get working."

So looks like we will have a bigger tank.

Yes, that would work that is just a universal tank. I bought the bigger 1.3 gallon Fork Tank...have not used it and decided because my bike is plated no headlight could run the risk of me being hassled in Utah on the roadway even if I don't ride at night. I happened to have some small Wolfman saddle bags and a bought two of these MSR Dromedary bags http://www.rei.com/product/849790/m...ferralID=55068eb9-9af9-11e2-9dea-001b2166becc Oh and I know about REI, I bought the first one from Amazon actually as its cheaper, but I had to spend my $5 REI divined check and 20% off so I went and got the second bag. Obviously I don't shop there much anyways...but they do have some stuff...shame on company anti OHV policy at the corporate level....store employees are always helpful.

I got the 6L ones to give room to expand. Tested with water and eyeballing it I was able to fill each with 1.25 Gallons each time which gave enough extra room for expansion. Most likely I will only carry one extra bag as that would be around 98 miles then to a tank.

I'll be doing a review after this week as that is the testing date out in Moab, UT. Looking forward to this trip Thursday can not come soon enough.

Pretty interesting this Dromedary Bag. Does it really last with fuel inside? I guess the material isnt made for fuel, also the sealings on the cap. For how long do you guys use this bag for carrying fuel? Do you have any pictures where you mounted it on the bikes?

Clark isn't far from where i live. I wonder if they need a 12 to fit a tank too? I'm guessing there may not be enough need for them to spend the r&d, idk.

Also, i believe i can get close to 70 miles on stock. Here in the PNW thats a good long day.

That's about what I can get on my 250. Since I ride mostly single track, I'm done before the tank is.........

I emailed Clarke and they said my email will be fowarded to research and development. I live fairly close and let them know i have a 12 they could use. Maybe more people should show interest by emailing them.
