Cam question????

Here is my problem. I have a 2003 FSE450 that is having a difficult time starting. I can kick start the bike with some difficulty but the electric start only turns it over until the motro builds compression.
So I checked everything I could check and came to the conclusion that auto decompress is not moving the valve far enough. The bike only has 294 miles on it and the decomp mechanism is working fine and the valve clearances are all good.
So my questions are:
1 Is the decopression mechanism replacable
2 Would a later model cam fix this problem
3 Is there an adjustment to cure this.
Anty help or advice appreciated
Paul
P.S. Below is the response I got from Yoshimura Japan about using a DRZ cam.

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are sorry for our late reply.

In reply to your enquiry, Gas Gas used to buy our DRZ camshaft, and installed it to their motorcycle. We also heard the camshaft fit FSE450, but we are not confirming the camshaft installation by ourselves. Because Gas Gas motorcycles are not imported in Japan.

We are sorry for our unclear information.
So, if you would like to install our camshaft to Gas Gas FSE450, please install it by your own responsibility.

Thank you very much for your confirmation.

Best regards,
Yoshimura Japan Co., Ltd

It's a good response. They couldn't be more honest and informative. I asked GasGas something recently (email) and all I got was silence.

ive had this problem on my crf and it was the clearence on the decompression arm. are you checking the clearence on the valve shim at the same time as the decompression arm? i know some who take the feeler gauge out of the valve shim the check decomp. arm and it moves down and gives inaccurate reading instead of leaving the gauge under that valve then checking decomp. arm clearence. just a thought

I used a DRZ exhaust cam in my 400 after the auto decrompess mechanism dissolved and bent 2 valves for me
The Suzuki job fitted and worked ,still couldnt start it on the button though
