Carb overflowing

I took my new (to me) '05 EC300 for the first ride today, and while I'm extremely impressed with the machine, I did discover something that seems not quite right. Whenever I leaned the bike against the kickstand, gas dribbled out of the carb overflow tubes. Not just a drop or two, but probably a 1/4 cup of gas drained out before I shut off the fuel valve. The bike ran very well otherwise.

I assume that this is not normal, right? Is this a common problem with a known fix? Thanks for any suggestions!

I had the very same problem with my ec 300 but the float level didnt need to be re-set, it was just a little bit of crap under the float needle which stoped it seating quite right, I took out the float needle and cleaned out the hole and it worked perfectly ever since.:)

Even if you have the float level right, it can still drain out if the bike is at an angle. Be sure to shut off the gas avery time you put it on the stand.

Same problem with my 98 ec250 this was something i woz gonna post as well but ya beat me to it. They seem very tempramental. Will check out the float height link too.

if it starts out a ride OK & then starts dribbling, then it is just a little piece of trash stuck in the float. take the handle of a screwdriver or something & tap the float bowl until it dislodges the obstruction & you can roost away w/o having to disassemble it.

Thought that I'd reply for the sake of anyone in the future that searches for "carb overflowing" and hits this thread...

Adjusting the float seems to have done the trick. I only moved it 2-3mm, so it doesn't take much change to make a difference.

Also, as a hint to anyone performing this task... after cursing and swearing for 1/2 hour trying to wedge the carb back in place, I had an epiphany... 3 minutes warming the airbox rubber with a heat gun, and it slid back in place like butter.
