Could'a sworn I had a rear brake light switch...

2001 xc300,
as featured in the bare frame rebuild thread...

Sorting out all my wire routing and I find I have misplaced my rear brake light switch. I took lots of photos and I don't see traces there either. I have the 3 wires (yellow, purple, and yellow with green) that run back to the rear master cylinder, marked to go to yellow, yellow and black.

I can't even remember what the switch looked like or where it went:confused:
Any clues in word or photo will be very helpful in jump starting my cranial search engine.

This is why you shouldn't leave them apart for months.

(The last critical parts are due here today (bottom shock bolt and carb cable). Warm it up tomorrow. Race it Saturday. The weather looks good. Come join us at Southwick.)

Thanks for any help.

Should be a banjo bolt that holds the rear brake hose into the rear master cylinder.. if you have a KTM dealer nearby they are like $23 or something.. have to change the plug a bit..if I remember right..

Hmmm, banjo bolt was not the factory way in 2001 (or it would still be there).

I just did the banjo switch up front with the Baja Designs unit.

It is bizzare that I can't remember the old switch.

OK, once again I need the dunce cap icon.

The three wires are for the tail light. <:-)

However, this still leaves a small mystery. I swear to the Zeus of Zoom that my bike was delivered with a rear brake switch. WTF? Now I don't even have a place to plug it in if I did a banjo switch.
The plot, or my skull, thickens.

just slightly behind schedule.
too bad about that whole needing to show up at work thing.

oh.. and something else i have noticed.. if the headlamp is switchd off, the brake light goes out also...

fyi..

Thanks. I must be losing my mind.

Interesting about the headlight switch affecting the brake light.

It has been a while since I had full lighting on the bike. too long, obviously.

I think I know where the switch is. I guess I bypassed it last year for the race. It is Headlight Class after all. One should have a working headlight. The headlight illuminated my sponsor's translucent sticker.

i leave mine off 99% of the time.. it has the small ignition and it does not put out much light anyway... it is enough some one could see you, but not really enough to ride very fast with anyway at night..

My 97 has a banjo bolt switch on both front and rear. The connector for the rear switch would be a two wire molex up near the cdi. And yes my 97 250ec came with these factory. Your 2001 should have also.
