CPD is Importing Fantic Motorcycles for Fantic USA

I'm sure he has awareness to some degree but I just heard this week some second hand information that Cody is working with a local (to Denver) Yamaha shop to develop the YZ 250X into a 300. Maybe Yamaha wants to remain carbureted? That may be one of the reasons why Yamaha is allowing the import of the Fantic 300 (which most thought would never happen).

I don't think that the Fantic's engine has enough Yamaha parts for them to restrict sales in the U.S.
I may be wrong.
The Fantic has been keeping me up at night. But, the Rieju 300I will be a lot cheaper.

Well, according to Enduro21, the Fantic uses Yamaha transmission and cases so that is not an insignificant part of the motor. The frame is 2005 issue YZ and it looks like the swingarm is the same. Given that Yamaha didn't like the old GG 4 strokes being imported, I was just interested to see the Fantic get approved.

BTW: I have extensive time on that 2005 YZ chassis with a 295cc big bore kit with full "high dollar" Factory Connection suspension setup for me and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great for single track if you weren't riding it at full race intensity. It was excellent riding medium/fast speed open trails, though. Just to know where I am coming from, my favorite legacy GG handling bike is my 2014 because I am taller than average. I rank the 2000, 2009, 2011, and 2018 pretty much equal with the older bikes being more precise but the 2018 suspension and layout is much better than the older bikes for me. I may be interested in a new Rieju if the FI works well so I would wait for that!

Hmmmmmm........if they REALLY have their electronics stuff together, it might be worth it. Really curious what they provide for rider support (including tuning tools, mapping, etc.). If not really comprehensive, not worth the trouble.

Dirt Bike had a couple articles on the Fantic/Yamaha import situation. Pasha from 125cc2 Stroke fame 'illegally' imported one. Obviously, from what I've read, some concession was made.

Pretty sure Athena still makes a trick 300cc kit for the Yamaha. Tried to get a buddy to pony up the $$$ for it. lol
