EC 250 1998 front fork options

EC250

Hi all

Dose anyone know if there are any aftermarket front forks that would fit my bike, the original forks, the ones I have on are 45mm Marzocchi, has anyone changed theirs, any help would be grate.

Cheers

Easy swap is also older 43mm WP or 45mm Zoke off of a part out bike. I did a 43mm WP swap on my 99 EC200....direct bolt on.

Cheers for the advice fellas

I will be honest, I have minimal knowledge about anything technical, you have both been really helpful, I'm looking for the easiest option & cheapest, I bought the bike for ?1400 with M.O.T I only had it for a week before it blow up !
So far I have spent ?800 in labour and ?700 in parts I had a complete engine rebuild, new plastics, new Rads, seat cover, trail Tec speedo, fork seals and new bottom yoke, and DEP silencer.

The reason I was looking at changing the forks was, I have a bolt missing at the bottom of one of the fork legs and the thread was worn out , I was told this was ok and would not affect the bike, I was also concerned that parts are no longer available (internals) for my Marzocchi 45mm , that's what Gas Gas UK told me, so I wanted to change to forks that had some sort of part base so I could renew parts if needed.

To be honest I'm not actuality sure if the fork springs need replacing at certain intervals or they get changed if and when the forks stop working properly ?

Maybe for others - it sounds like you solved your issues... I retrofitted Ohlins forks (the enduro ones , the motocross ones are way too stiff for me) from an old Cannondale onto a 99 200. The triple clamps have the same bearing sizes for 2002 through 2008 Hondas as well. That gives tons of options. The Hondas have different offsets through those years so you can match the gasgas geometry if you get the right year. You can look on the All-Balls bearing site and find the bearing sets you need. You need to figure out an approach for sterring stops but there are lots of ways you can do it.

Cheers for the info, In the end I found a set of WP 43mm forks and Yokes off a 2002 on eBay, Rick gave me some great advice on how to convert them to fit my bike, I'm currently getting them fitted.
