EC300 2k-2/1 stator - run on batteries

Wanting to get max out of everything on a road-legal EC300 Supermotard, i was thinking of swapping the 2k-3 stator and flywheel with alot lighter flywheel and 2k-2 (or even 2k-1) stator for more reeving bike.

Along with porting, new pipes,38 carb and head-job.

Bike running on battery, how long would it last? Front light, rear-light.
Im thinking of an easy swap battery that i can charge easy. Maybe some lithium some-sort.. ?
 
You will need to calculate the total Watts of your lights and then you convert that number to Amps (Watts/Volts = Amps). Determine how long you need the lights to stay energized. Find a battery with an Amp/hr rating that will support your lights for your desired time.

Example - 55w headlight, 5w tail light and 35w brake light (assume you will be on the brakes 50% of the time so we will say that is a 17.5W electric load). These three lights sum to 77.5W / 12V =6.46Amps. If you want to ride for 1 hr you will need a battery with a rating of at least 6.5Amp/hours. I would add a 25% safety factor so I would look for a 8amp /hour battery.

Also note that some Lithium batteries (like lithium polymer (LiPo) batteries for radio controlled cars) have very specific charge and discharge routine that requires special electronic controls. The lithium iron phosphate batteries are good replacements for lead acid batteries and do not need the complex charge and discharge control devices.

One additional and easier option is to use the 35W 2K2 ignition and swap out the traditional tungsten bulbs for LED replacement bulbs that consume a fraction of the current. I can run the stock tungsten 35W headlight bulb just fine with the 2k2 if I use the LED tail light bulb.

BTW- I have a 2K2 I would swap you for the 2K3.

I figured. What is the weight of the 2k1 flywheel? I think the 2k2 is only a 50g lighter than 2k3.

It's not just the weight of the stator, the size matters immensely. The 2K2 is significantly smaller in diameter, reducing the rotating mass exponentially (as I understand it). I noticed a large difference between my old 2K2 and my current 2K3 (different bikes, yes, but a noticeable difference).

I was googling the 2k2 flywheel yesterday. Looks the same size as a 2k3 with 50gram less weight in a total, but the weight is on the top side, making it work as a momentum, as in the 2k1 got none.

But maybe i could mill some of the 2k2.. Thanks thought.

I believe the 2k1 and 2k2 are the same diameter which are smaller diameter than the 2k3. The 2k2 in your photo shows a big flywheel weight that I have never seen on a GG 2k2. My 2k2 looks like the 2k1 in your photo.

That 2K2 in your picture looks nothing like the 2K2 I had on my 2002 300. My 2K2 looked like the 2K1, just like Zman.
 
While I was talking with Steahly Offroad today they mentioned that the GG XC, DE and MC bikes came with 2K1 ignitions not 2k2 like we have been saying for years. :confused: That information matches the photo posted above.

So I would have a 2k1 with 35W lighting coil to swap for your 2k3 if you like.
