EC300 Rally Raid - Dakar

Hi to all,

Just for some friendly discussion?

Has anyone considered using a EC300 for Rally Raid - Dakar type events?
I know some two strokes, Bultaco, Honda, and recently KTM have competed.

The man on the KTM - BELAUSTEGUI (ARG) finished Dakar 2013 in 116hr:11:19. Surely a EC300 would be fine with a piston and rings change at the halfway mark? Much cheaper than a 4 stroke.

He seized a couple pistons on his 150 didn't he?

I would think a 300 would be more than fine.

Honda did it in the past, too bad they didn't go further with the technology.

I don't think the guy on the 150 made it to the end, seem to remember it was something silly like getting lost that cused him to stop, not engine failure. But would think the 300 would be a better bet. Once you add all the required extras, you will be riding a heavy bike and loose out on the benefits of a light 150
