hey..

ive been riding an '00 EC200 for quite some time now and currently thinking of getting the engine upgraded to a 250cc. does anyone has any knowledge on this...?

which year engine should i be looking at ....?

will an '04 EC300 engine fits on a '00 frame...?

thanks in advance..

cheers..

hurley..

03 and older will fit.04 and newer will require lower rear motor mount relocation as the cases are wider at that point on the newer engines.

Thanks for the clarification Peb. Did'nt know you were still lurking around, what are you riding these days?

'05 was the change to eliminate the counterbalancer area, but the swingarm pivot got larger before that. I know my '03 had a bigger pivot than my '00. Either '03 or '02, sorry I'm not positive.

.

I just transplanted an 01 motor into a 02 frame. I now recall the front motor mount bolt being of a larger dia on the 02. I just drilled the cases.

Are you aware that a 200, 250 and 300 use the same bottom end?
Maybe you can round up some parts and a cylinder for the desired cc's.

Sorry, but not exactly true. They are the same externally, but the 200 has many specific parts like crank, main bearings, cases, trans parts, etc. You absolutely cannot drop a 200 cyl on a 250 lower end. A 250/300 conversion is very easy however.

so lets jus say if i want to round up the parts, i'll be looking at a crankshaft, cylinder plus head right....?

anyways .. ive found a Wild 300 crankshaft on ebay, would that be similar to an EC engine...?

Its just not practical, by the time your done you could have much more eaisly found a 300 motor to go in. I gave you a quick off the cuff run down on parts, but the differences are in much more detail. If you have to change the cases, crank, top end, and most of the trans, whats left? Sell the 200 motor and buy a 300.

ok .. thanks for the input.. im just looking at my options. probably go hunt for the engine. honestly, i would just get a new bike altogether, but that just wont happen in this part of the world.

anyways.. thanks again guys. at least im on the right path.
