Estart Powervalve Cover Mount Broke

The mount for my estart broke two weeks ago, the one on the exhaust valve cover. Has anyone else experienced this or have any tips to prevent this in the future? Besides not crashing the bike lol

It wasn't a cheap part to replace and I'm wondering if maybe I screwed something up when I put everything back together over the last winter. I'll take any tips for reassembly here.

Not much you can do wrong. If your ignition cover was spaced out to improve the ring gear clearance, you could add washers under the starter motor tabs so everything lines up better.

Simple thing to do is push the starter motor all the way down into the mounting hole and then look to see if the tabs are snug to the mounting ears on the powervalve cover.

Even if the starter motor is a bit out of line, the bendix should still operate OK. And yes the powervalve cover mounting ears are delicate. Don't over-torque the starter mounting bolts or you could crack them.

Never had a problem with the bike starting so the spacing I had right.

I'll try the tip with pushing the motor all the way down.

The mounting ears broke right under the holes, no cracking around the bolt holes so it looks like the torque was ok. But I'll be sure to double check it and add loctite on reassembly. Thanks for the tips!

This has always been a difficult part on the bike for me, the bolts were all vibrating loose and now this.

I broke mine a few months ago. I just figured it was time with all the times my bike has tipped over. I got a new one and was back in business.

Haha yeah that might be all that happened with mine! Those dirt bikes are so lazy they always want to take naps.
