Sunday was my first ever E. Washington riding experience. The Naches...Wow! Awesome doesn't do it justice. I consulted a local(who's a forum member)...Thank you Waycrazy. I planned my day on paper, which turned out better than I hoped. The ridgeline views were epic. Arriving at 4am, I drove the entire length of road 19's pavement up, and back. I think one could've thrown a rock in any direction and would've hit an elk. Parking just outside of Crow Creek C.G. I took a short nap. I departed just short of 7am to the 952 trail. I have no idea what the total mileage worked out to, but I can stretch a 2.25 fuel tank
I rode the 952 loop, tied into the 963, then...the 941! I tied into the 941, with every intension of being at the truck for lunch. After a rather short easy putt on the 941, the easy 0 rating trail started taking on a whole different personality. It transformed from an easy beginner trail to a nasty rocky, rooty, step-up sensation(it was awesome, finishing that stretch, BTW). At some point, I hit a road crossing...Recognizing it from Jeeping adventures. Crap! How am I on fuel? A quick peek resulted in a pat on my own back. I had stashed a bicycle & sneakers at the end of the pavement, on Rd. 19. After much map study, I decided...worst case(fuel) scenario, where wouldn't I want to be? Answer: right where I was at...near Pyramid Peak. Even with a spare quart of fuel, I'm not going to make it back to the truck via the trails. At this point it's getting hot, and I'm not in the mood for a pedal adventure. Suffice it to say, I made it to the truck, anyway...**are you reading between the lines?**
As I approached my rig(within 100 yards), my bike stuttered...I pulled in the clutch & hit the kill switch. The tank was bone dry. I still hadn't touched my reserve quart, however...
I've decided, after that many hours/miles standing on the stock KX pegs...I need wider ones, yesterday. It was an oustanding day, and couldn't be happier with the outcome. Not once did I drop my bike, and only had to physically reposition it twice. Thanks again to Waycrazy, for helping me plan this out...his directions were precise & easy to follow(providing I read them at each intersection, as well as reviewing the map with them
