These tests seem to be inconsistent. Warm your bike up 1st and stand on the right side during the test to keep engine/pipe noise out of it (if they'll let you).
I've got a "db snorkel" on mine and have still been getting some high readings. Most of those were, I think, because they didn't have a tach. or because the book didn't have an r.p.m. listing for my bike.
