Front Brake Mod

I was getting tired of pulling the lever to the bar under heavy braking, even after new fluid , bleed and pads. So I stumbled upon a guy on the Beta forum that was running the set screw in farther on the lever without the lock nut. I don't think I want to not have the lock nut, so I filled the part of the lever that the nut seats against about 1/8" or must of the thickness of the nut. This lets me adjust ALL the play out of the leaver before it starts pushing on the plunger. The result is a nice firm lever that does not have to be pulled to the bar, Thus squishing your none brake lever fingers. Very much a 1 finger brake now. :)

I removed the nut from mine, put two small washers between the head of the bolt and lever. Red locktite has not gotten lose all season.

Your welcome. I'm that guy. Have to say, I love the Internet, as your fix builds on the one I did, and gives the opportunity for a rider to gradually fine tune the play, rather than taking it all out at once. Another option I thought of would be to replace the locknut with a small washer or two to adjust the screw length. Run locking compound on the screw if you remove the locknut.

See, Betas and GG's can live together in harmony after all.
