Front Disc Cover mount

I've found that it's real easy to fit most made for Yamaha YZ Disc Covers (I use a Cycra YZ cover) on the late model GG's by relacing the OEM front axle bolt with a solid steel one.

The bolt that I use can be found at any hydraulics parts supply store. All that is necessary is to drill through it and tap for the 10 mm bolth that holds the cover. It's a 5 minute job and it works great (see the attached pictures).

There's nothing better than a Scotts Performance guard i.m.o..
It's a beautiful piece of work and it's almost bullet-proof. @ $140

I don't know why this won't fit earlier models but this one from Enduro Engineering is a cheaper option for '06 ('07 ?) owners.

Careful PT#13-044 won't fit

Brian, I read your post and purchased the (PT# 13-044 Enduro Engineering Rear Disc Guard Wrap around ) and the number is correct but the part doesn't look anything like the one you posted. How can this be, same number different part. Thankfully the part fits KTM's and my dealer will take it back. Any suggestions on how to get the right part. Should I contact EE directly.

I've always wondered about plastic disk protectors. What are they designed to protect against? They don't look strong enough to stop a rock impact and look like they wouldn't do much to keep muck out in mud or in wet sand. Do they work? Do they increase pad life? I'd be quite interested if they keep wet sand off so the pads last the whole race.

I've always run one. They keep some mud off the pads, but the main reason is to protect my enduro computer pickup/wires and keep vines from wrapping around that side of the wheel.

Kent, what is the thread size/pitch of that axel bolt?

I ride where there are many, many rocks of all sizes.

I have used an old style Acerbis Spider plastic front disk guard on my '01 XC300 for years. It does a great job protecting the rotor and caliper against rock damage. The plastic slides off the rocks quite well. However, they only take so many hits before they need to be replaced.

I have a Carbon Fiber YZ front disk guard fit on my '06 EC300. It provides great protection against rocks and is more durable.

They keep some of the mud and dirt off the rotor, but I still get mud and dirt on the rotor.
