Front tires?

I'm ready for a new front tire. Have been using Michelin m12 for a while, but looking for a change maybe. I did some searching, but most discussion is about rears. I am running a pirrelli trials tire in the rear and riding a 300. I like to ride in rocky, rooty terrain,. Those that rode test six at the loose moose know what I mean. That's a favorite area.

I have tried a few fronts in the past, both hard and soft terrain, and like the m12. Almost picked up a Dunlop mx32 but the dealer wanted 127$ for it.

What are you running and what do you like?

I am liking the bridgestone m403. It wears well for an intermediate and good traction. I also like the Maxxis SI, traction is better, but wears faster. I will run this when I know I will be running it in loam, it wears fast in rocky terrain. I was not a fan of the dunlop mx51 as I have run that a couple times and the side knobs chunk quickly and it did not perform that great.

I always ride FIM tyres on the front. Same profile line MX sand tyres but different rubber. These tyres work on every ground!

I use I Michelin comp4 front and a ac10 back good set up

ive also used in the past the Pirelli scorpion pro FIA good tire but I found it wore a little quick

I really liked the Bridgestone 201. Tried the mitas c19 and that also grips well on rocks (tubliss at 0.6bar) but does strange things on sand sprinkled hard pack

About to try the mitas ef06 which is fim spec and Chris birch's preferred tire for the roof of Africa which is a mix of soft black clay (when wet) and rocks and more rocks

Believe it or not I have had outstanding results with the cheap A@$ $40.00 Sedona 887 tire(front only) Tubliss @ 4-5psi, it sticks like glue, rocks, wet rock, roots, wet roots, silt...from the desert floor to the forest it has been a great tire. Go figure! I'm on my second one with 30 hrs. on it.

I don't have tubliss so probably have to stay 10 psi plus. Locals here seem to run the mx 51 and s12.

What does the FIM designation indicate? Tread depth maybe?

Another nod for the Bridgestone 403.

I do want to try out the line of Motoz tires. Heard good things about them.

Me and a riding bud have been running Kenda Washougal Sticky fronts and they are working well, wet or dry, lots of bang for the buck. I usually run about 9psi, sticks well in rocks and does very good in ruts. Nice feel on log crossings and even betetr feel in the open stuff.

My favorite full on soft terrain tire is the Pirelli XCMS. I used to run S12xc exclusively.

I have went through a few Pirelli scorpion pro but the outer lugs chunk off really bad for where we ride. I am running a MT16 on the thumper and its excellent in the rocks but marginal when its slimy.

If you like the Michelins then you should consider the MotoZ. They are my personal favorite after leaving the S-12 due to premature wear. They get better hook up and last longer. Great tires at a great price.

Kelly at motosportz also carries them. It's more of a phone or email him type of company but I always get great service from him.
