Gas cap - aftermarket?

Does anyone know if there's an aftermarket gas cap that fits the 200 fuel tank (2011)? I'm pretty sure mine doesn't seal very well and leaks through the threads when riding anything remotely rough.

I was just looking at a red billet aluminum cap on a friend's '11 300 the other day that's got GasGas engraved into. It came on his bike, he says it doesn't leak fuel like my stock plastic cap does.

Liv2day, try replacing the gasket or adding another thicker gasket.

Stupid question - would this just be an o-ring? I know the cap needs to vent and don't want to fubar that aspect by throwing something in there.

Liv2 day, I dont think its a o-ring just a thicker gasket is all that's needed.
Dont forget the search function on this site. Very usefull.. Best of luck.

S3 makes an aluminum cap. Gofasters has them listed, not sure if he stocks them.

The stock cap does not hold up well to E10 fuel.

I have the S3 cap and it never leaks. I've had it over a year now and the seal is still like new.
The S3 cap does require a check valve in the vent hose.

Completely off topic- The search function on this forum is goofy.

That's all that I have to contribute, which is nothing. Sorry.

That S3 cap looks awesome. I love their stuff. Not that I have bought any, yet. That cap may be what I get.

I also had my gasket/ball valve shrink and start leaking, I ended up buying a sheet of 1mm viton rubber and a circle cutter and made a new seal and it works great no shrinkage although I made the ID too big to hold the oem seal and ball valve in place so that is now at the bottom of my tank

where do you get a check valve for the vent hose? Before i went the DIY viton route i tried to find a vent hose check valve (not the shorties - i have heard too many stories of those blocking and not venting)?

I have this one on the Clarke tank and so far works great. The check valve has never been a problem and it actually keeps the gasoline from dripping when the bike is upside down. Tested and proven :D:D

LOL - that's what happened the first time I searched too. I changed the wording around to "fuel cap" and ended up finding a whole bunch of results

Sort of on the subject, but if there have been so many problems with gas caps leaking, why hasn't anything been done to resolve it - at the manufacturer level?

It irks me that I need to go spend $$ on something that should work correctly "out of the box". I understand the issue with E10 fuel, but it's not like it was just introduced...lol.

Anyway, I'll be contacting Mark to get one of the S3 caps - be nice to not have 2T fuel soaked pants at the end of every ride.

Go to your local Yamaha dealer and order part no. 3XJ-24380-00-00 (PIPE JOINT ASSY). Oddly named, but it is an inline vent tube. Item no. 4 on this schematic: http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/2011/YZ+450F+-+YZ450FAB/FUEL+TANK/parts.html
