hi

I'm interested in buying in future a (next) used enduro bike

and want to know what makes the difference (if there really is) in weight betwen GasGas ec 250F and Rieju marathon 250 from 2010 year

Rieju weighs: 98 kg /216,053 lbs (no oil and fuel)

GasGas weighs: 118 kg /260,145 lbs

they both have Yamaha WR engine and GasGas frame (that i know)

even if GasGas is full (ready to ride)it weight too much IMO

GasGas take 7L of gas and about 1,5L of engine oil (??) + less than 3 L of fork and shock oil (let say about 5l of oil together)

1LITRE of gas weight~ 0,77kg /1,697 lbs

1L of oil~0,91kg /2 lbs

so it is (7x0,77)+(5x0,91)=5,39+4.55=9.94kg /21,91lbs

so then 118-9.94=108.06 /238,231lbs and still far from 98kg of Rieju

so question is how they make Rieju so light ??

You might want to verify the weight of the Rieju 250. I have a Spring 2010 copy of Enduro Extreme magazine(UK) that lists the Reiju 250 "wet weight" as 114kg. The same year GG EC250F is listed at 111.5kg. The magazine compared 23 different enduro machines, others weighed in as well; YZ250(2T)-106kg, KTM300EXC - 109.5kg, Husqvarna 310TE - 120kg. The weight you mentioned of the Reiju, 98kg, seems very, very light. Did you actually weigh the bike or is that a number given to you by the person wanting to sell the bike? 98kg is about what a 125 mx'er would weigh.

thanks for fast response
i had info about weight of Rieju from this:
(attached - jpg scan of pdf)
http://www.riejumoto.co.uk/documents.php?type=4
(first pdf)
so they just lied about weight in this or how they mesured this bike?
by the way can you post a scan of this article from magazine or at least the weight for all bikes tested

Sorry about the delay; I couldn't get the magazine to lay flat enough for the scanner. These are all 2010 models, Ktm 300exc-109.5kg, KTM 250 exc f-109.5kg, Sherco 250sei f-110.5kg, Husaberg390fe- 121.5kg, GasGas 300ec-114.5kg, Beta 400rr-118.5kg, Sherco 300 F-111.5kg, Husky 310TE- 120kg, Husky 250TE- 114kg, Yamaha 250wr f- 115kg, Yamaha 450wr f-123kg, Suzuki 450rmx- 120.5kg, Kawasaki Klx 121.5kg, BMW 450x-121.5kg, Rieju450- 120.5kg. I hope this helps w/ your decision on which bike you'd purchase. On the subject of weight, you've probably noticed many comments on how light feeling the GG is when riding; you'll make a better decision if you get to actually spend some time riding each one and we all know that the lightest weight does not mean good handling or suspension. Let us know what you get. Jim
