Hello gasgas peeps, shew have I learned a lot I have 2 fse450s a 04 sm and a 05 ec, one day I?m doing fat mile long wheelies, on new circle, get back down to 2 wheels, roll on that gas I hit absolutely about 80........ clink sound, then max crazy vibrations felt like going over rumbel strips constantly. Bike felt loaded and lugged but still had power, I was thinking it was the balance shaft some how so kept riding until it died! That was a bad idea!! Any how got my tow home, to find out the true problems, the stater bolts became loose and let that stater get sucked to the fly wheel, then started spinning and yea you know what happened, total inhalation lol. Well when I got into it I noticed it?s a 03 ignition flywheel, wire harnes, coil. I assume it?s been converted to the 03 from the 04 the block and frame are both 04. You can tell part numbers and diagrams from the fishe from gasgas they provide, life saver btw, come to find out that the 03 charging system is like 230-260$ and the 04-07 system is like 160 bucks that?s a big difference and why would any one want to take a 04 system and go backwards, this tells me some one had a parts bike or quad laying around. So I ordered a 03 charging system, and 04 left case , and duh the 2 are not compatible, the old chewed up case was a mq45041004 what is the same case as the mfs40011004 but the mq is quad numbers I believe, so some one used wild hp parts to put this super moto back together. What?s crazy also is I can get a 04 stater case but I can not get a 03400/450 case the only ones I have found can?t be sent to USA. So I have no choice to return the new 03 charging system and use a 04-07 that is compatible with my 04 stater case. So with all this being said I know the 04 voltage reg is the same as the 03 450 but the wire harness and coil systems totally different, do you think by chance I can run the 04 charging system on the 03 wire harness and it function?????????? State your answers and questions below because I?m going to try it anyways stay tuned !
